Researching Bilstein 6112s for the front, Bilstein 5100s for rear, Toyota light racing UCAs if needed, Pro Comp 7036 series 17s, BFG AT KO2 275/70 17s
Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and I apologize in advance if this topic has already been answered, hoping for a quick answer. I have a 2011 Tacoma TRD 4X4 Off Road, quad cab, short bed. After a lot of researching I think I've settled on Bilstein 6112s up front paired to Bilstein 5100s in the rear. My question is for anyone who has installed these if the alignment shop had any issues aligning their truck. I plan to set them to the highest setting which looks to be around 2.5". I don't want to install them and then find out later that I need UCAs. If I do need UCAs I was planning on the Toyota light racing UCAs because they are the most economical. Do you guys think I'll have any issues running 17" wheels on BFG AT KO2 275/70 17s? Truck has 16" BFG All Terrain 265/65 16s right now, thanks.

Once I pull the trigger I'll post before and after pictures, thanks.

Ive heard they end up higher than what they say. so your 2.5" could end up more like 2.8 or so, so i would put them one down from the highest setting and you should be good

Sorry, my error, the correct name per headstrong 4X4 website for these UCAs: Light Racing (SPC) Upper Control Arms

So if I set these to setting #4 instead of full height, do you think I'll be ok without installing new UCAs?

1.5 aal will get you close to level at 2.5 in the front as there is about a 1" rake in the rear or go 2" aal and have a slight rake in rear

For least headache I'd look to do 2" of lift, and then run 265/70R17 KO2s.

The Pros have about 2" up front and you will be able to get a good alignment on stock UCAs, with less wear on your CVs and a better ride.

265/70R17s (1" over stock) come in C-load are 10lbs lighter than 275/70R17s (1.5" over stock), meaning better ride, better acceleration and better mpgs. 275/70R17 will only net you 0.25" more ground clearance than 265/70R17.

    OP it really depends.

I am at 1.75in of lift in the front, but i also lifted the rear 2inches... this made it hard for me to get the caster numbers i want out of the stock UCA's.

And honestly... if you are doing the 5100's or 6112's in the front, get aftermarket UCA's so you can use the extra droop of the suspension... cus stock UCA's will hit the coils / bind the upper ball joint before the shock reaches full extension.

This. I needed UCAs with these same numbers. I still need UCAs with 2.5"/3" now...

I'm running the 6112's on the second clip (from the bottom) which is about 1.5" or so and the stock 4 leaf pack and I'm pretty level. Alignment is decent, but I'm out of adjustment, so any higher on the front would require control arms for the same alignment specs. Tacoma Alignment.jpg

Just do it right the first time or keep spending more money upgrading each time wishing you had done it right. :)

Just installed the 6112s on my 2013 DCSB OR with a deaver 1.5 aal. The 6112 were set at the highest setting and I'm sure its over 2.5 inches higher. (I forgot to measure before installing the lift! ) I'm very slightly higher in the front, maybe a half inch or so. I went ahead an bit the bullet and bought some LR UCAs. Very glad I did...my alignment turned out perfect. I'm gonna give the front a month or so to settle in and them see if I need to adjust the 6112 down a notch.

Ok OP, so I'm running the bilstein 6112's set at the highest setting coupled with the SPC light racing UCA's.

You WILL need UCA's if you would like to go with the "2.5" inches of lift, but honestly I'd recommend UCA's regardless of how much lift you are going for. Have had this set up for about a month now and it rides great, alignment numbers are all within the correct range.
