    Hi Folks,

Recently i began to experience a problem when starting my truck. Ever few days on first attempt it will turn over but not start. If i turn key off and back on it starts then no problem. Seem to start shortly after Volant CAI. I did read of older TSB that addressed something like this but apparently was corrected post 07.

    Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Happened on my 14 when I first got it. Never took it in and within, I'd say, 5k miles it took care of itself and stopped doing it. I wouldn't worry about it.

I had a different car that did that, and turning it to the on position for a second or two it seemed to work. Gets the fuel pump going, right?

my old chevy had a bad checkvalve in the fuel pump..... you had to turn the key to ON, wait for the fuel pump to stop priming, turn to off, turn it back to on, let it prime then you could start.... otherwise it would never want to start.

So i typically let my taco prime 5 secs or so as well before cranking.

I have a 2015 4.0. Does the same with 8500 miles. When I took it in for the first service, I asked that they look for a TSB I found. They said it was for prior years and not 2015. The tech did document the problem as he was able to duplicate. He suggested that they may come up with a TSB and to check when it goes in for service again. I would suggest we 2015 owners post up and if a dealer fixes, we share the wealth. I have another service in 1500 miles and plan to ask again.

Yep mine too. Although I haven't noticed it in about 10,000 miles. It happened approximately 3 times in the first 8k. I just figured I wasn't holding the key long enough

I've noticed it in mine a few times. It usually happens if I've been using the AC. Could be a coincidence though.

I had that issue when my truck was brand new.
Haven't experienced it in awhile now that the motor is broken in

I have it happen to me all the time, but I know it's me ;)

I drive a Ford for work that cranks as long as it needs to on it's own as soon as the key is turned. I happen to put a lot more miles and seat time in that rig so I'm in the habit of short stroking the ignition key. The Tacoma is still a lot more basic of a truck that requires the key to be turned until it starts so when I hop into it after a week(or more) of not driving it sometimes I get thrown off. Same goes for the headlight switch ;)

put it back to stock and clean the maf.

slap-on cold air intakes do NOTHING but take your money, and might make more noise

why oh why do people keep getting duped into buying crappy add-ons ? I am in the wrong business..
I should buy a defunct plastic manufacturer, build my own crappy plastic parts and a fancy web site

Try putting key i ON position wait a minute. If it starts first time like that, you may have problems with fuel pump. (couple people did)
Ask Service guys to check pressure, and how quickly builds up.
