Seriously? that sounds like a quality :jerkoff: right there, although not knowing right from left at Toyota may have some cred. My dealer is still rolling with they're working on the "remedy" They are all full of shit. Lets hope the latest recall doesn't hold it up even longer. 625,000 Prius models for faulty hybrid software, the third Prius recall this year.

Which is the wheelers spring pack that keeps it to stock height? Is it the 3 or 5 leaf? I have a 06 prerunner double cab.

Just got a new letter from Toyota for my 05 Double cab 4x4. It says they are still working on a solution and expect to hear back in the beginning of 2016. Geeze. How long can they delay this? Isn't there a limit to how long they can take? It will be well over a year.

I had my frame replaced 3 weeks ago.
They replaced my springs with a 3 leaf + 1 helper pack.
I am assuming that is Toyotas 4 leaf pack.
My springs were so bad I could not put my 4 wheeler in the back without bottoming out.
Truck is now tight as hell,no 4wd though.
I'll try the 4 wheeler in the back soon to see how it handles with the new springs.

It is so said that it is taking them this long, they have known about this for couple of years.I think they are playing a waiting game, hoping the longer they wait the less trucks they will have to do. People will get disgusted with their trucks and either replace their springs or sell the trucks.

Seems like it, but at the same time.. Why not use the excuse that there are too many vehicles to do quickly. I just spoke to the dealership and told me they would not be willing to compensate me even partially if I had to buy new leaf springs from a different company. Also said it would take thirty days to get a new set in if mine break before they figure out the recall. Works well for them huh?? I may end up spending the $400 on ome suspension because my springs are squeaking beyond belief. I'm getting head aches driving down the road.

I know what you mean, stall tactics. Mine are actually inverted now, instead a flat spring they are curving downward, They said that they are fine. I would like to have them replace them but on their dime. Retired public servant not much of a check. I get so jealous of the nice rigs posted.

Broke over here as well haha... What a bummer. But if everyone had money, no one would. Last month I made an extra $900 and saved it.. Super excited to get a savings account back but two days ago I was forced to spend $843 on new tires.. Really got ahead of myself. Now the leaf springs will have to wait even longer.

I went as far as to install a helper spring to see if they live up to name, haha... Its a vicious cycle, in one pocket out the other.

I called my local Toyota dealership today to complain about how long the recall is taking. Told them my leaf springs are shot and couldn't wait till 2016 for a fix. Service guy tells me there is nothing he can do until 2016 when the new leaf springs arrive. I then called Toyota Corporate and complained. Corporate told me they would authorize my local dealership to replace my leaf springs now, then in 2016 I would also receive the new springs when available. I'll keep you guys posted on how things pan out.

Is anyone getting anything replaced? I have a 09 with 2 cracked springs on the right side and one on the left. I brought it to the local dealership and they took pictures and that was all. Service manager said he can't do anything until there's parts. I sent Toyota a email asking about the recall and she responded with when there's parts it will get fixed. I asked about fixing it on my own, she said if I use aftermarket parts they won't reimburse, and if I chose to use Toyota parts they may reimburse but there's no parts to get as they stopped selling the recalled parts. Also if I put aftermarket on they will not fix it with the updated parts. I then replied with what choice do I have to do but to wait, then I asked who's fault is it if the leaf springs fail completely and lead to more damage or an accident since the parts have been recalled but not fixed, and I haven't had a response.

I had to go buy a set of springs off a 2015 model just to keep driving my truck, I would try a different dealer since yours are broken ,which poses a safety concern. Also get in contact of the NTSB on their website and complained to them. I can't do anything as far my own truck goes because mine are not broken, just worn out . they have known about this issue for a few years now.

It's not a huge concern right now, but it will be in 2 months when I tow my snowmobiles. Since finding out they were broke I limit my driving from home to work (4 kms through town) and keep anything else to my Wife's vehicle.

What the hell is going on with some of these dealers?
If u have broken springs, they need to replace now, & replace again in '16.
Per corporate, the trucks with broken springs are not safe to drive due to proximity to gas tank.
I had a frame replaced not even 2 months ago.
They replaced my springs,& per this forum, they will replace again in '16 when the new,new springs are in.
Everyone that is not getting proper service needs to go to corporate and escalate their issue up the ladder.
I will say some dealers seem to be much better at recall work than others.
Bottom line, don't take crap from anyone.

Exactly. The recall letter itself says they have to fix it if it's cracked.

The dealers WILL give you the run around so keep fighting for it. I would get corporate involved if they are still giving trouble.

I had to speak with many different service guys to get mine replaced. I ended up sending an email to one of them with concern over the recall and told him that I am very involved in the Tacoma forums and that his answer will have effect among the Tacoma community locally and nation wide. They finally did the right thing but as you stated, they have to make sure they have the parts. The guy I emailed made sure that he ordered the leaf packs and made a follow up appointment after they assessed the damage so they could install the new ones.

Just keep trying. They'll eventually budge. And show them on the recall that they are required to fix it even tho they are going to install the new leaf packs deemed to fail.

Early 2016 is what the last letter said. I've done my bitching to the dealer and Corporate. They're not budging, so I'm taking them at their word for early 2016.

    ^^THIS!!!

My buddy is the parts and service manager for Toyota and he's keeping his tabs on the bullshit. He said he will let me know when things get closer to reality on this fix. He said they are building a stock pile of leaf springs so they can roll the trucks in and get them done. I'll update in here when he updates me. He's hoping February.

Same. I got the notice back in September of last year, called the local dealers, then called corporate. Tried again a couple of months later and still no luck. Tried again last month after I got the new notice and still the same answer. Since mine aren't cracked yet I'm playing the waiting game, and avoiding heavy loads in the bed. Glad I have a spare truck for when I need to freight one, though.

i had my frame recall done in February and i need to check now what springs they put in. i think it was the old style springs as my old ones were pretty useless, also when i got the truck back they said that they weren't sure if the spring recall was still valid for me since they just replaced the springs under a different recall (being the frame recall). i'll check what pack i have later, if it's not the 4 pack the dealer will be getting a call.
