    Gave up on my grinding and took the truck to a local mechanic. I can swap parts with the best of them, but my diagnostic skills are sorely lacking. Every thread I came across never quite matched my symptoms and my thread went unanswered.

    I'm going to go sulk over in the corner. At least it will (hopefully) be fixed.

    I removed the whole box and just bought longer cables . Then used some self tapping screws and mounted it to the wheel well under the hood next to the battery .
    Don't just remove the cover because water wil short everything out .
