I will add that if you have dogs, the rear seat flat floor with the seats folded up in the F150 is one of those features that once you have, you'll wonder how you ever lived without. I can take my 2 big dogs wherever in my F150 and not have to worry about the leather getting ruined or them sliding all over the place on hard plastic. And the window is at perfect viewing level for them. One of my favorite features.

Me too! Especially after 2 quotes of $3,000. One of those was after I paid the $400 out of pocket for frame replacement, so really only an extra $600 in trade after all the BS. Without the frame replacement they'd offered $2,000 scrap value.

So yeah, where's the resale value? Two other dealers said anything over 100k miles gets auctioned. So I really have no idea WTF people are talking about with resale. Unless they all sell/trade after 5 years.

And that's also why I jumped on that deal, even though the dealer was 90 miles away.

I have shots of my truck next to an F150 (2014) and it really is hard to tell any difference in size. Of course I have a DCSB. As you can see in the pictures I parked with our rear cab windows lined up as closely as I could. The bed looks to be 6" longer (which makes sense, 5.5' bed) and the front window was only marginally further forward, probably only 6" again. So somewhere there's 6" more room in there, probably 3 or 4" in the rear seat and 2" or so in the front seat (speculation). The nose hung forward probably only 6" again, and based on the cab-size it is likely all because of the slightly larger cab.

Honestly for a full-size it's not a large fullsize and probably the same truck I'd end up in if I needed the capacity of a full size.

And yes, the passenger seat goes up too! Wish I had this when I was moving, and when my job required me to transport equipment!

    Dude.

    That is excellent.

Now to wait 10 years to get an F150 super crew. :pout:

To give some scale, I've parked next to a DCSB at work, and a DC Sport in another parking lot.

And yes, I find myself doing more 3 (or even 4) point turns in parking lots, my driveway, or even when I need to make a U turn. I suppose I could lock the axle, turn off traction control, spool the turbos up, and just spin the ass end around, but I'm *reaaaaally* trying to save the tires.

It really is something I've had to recalculate since getting it, including parking differently in my driveway and at work. What you might find funny, is I find it easier to back into most parking spots thanks to the camera.

lol I have 4 kids too. So I could have 2-3 of then in the back at any time. Even cramming 4 in there now and then when needed isn't *too* bad since they have more room.

I was also routinely filling up the 5ft bed of the Tacoma with extra clothes, gear, presents, etc when we'd go to grandma's for holidays or whatever.

I've packed everything I would carry in the tacoma, then stood back like "well shit. I still have half the bed left!" It's wider and taller in addition to being longer.

Has there ever been a 3rd Gen TW thread that hasn't gone to shit in less than 4 pages?

F150 SuperCab (Access Cab) is a decent alternative to the 2016 DCLB.

232 inches length vs 225 inches length for the DCLB. Curb weights are roughly the same. 4WD approach/departure angles are roughly the same.

Rear seat legroom is an inch better in the F150 SuperCab. Better rear seat setup F150 SuperCab vs 2016 DCLB.

F150 has the optional 36 gallon fuel tank. Sure would have been nice if Toyota could have put at least a 26 gallon fuel tank in the Tacoma. It sucks to have a tiny 21 gallon tank.

I have the 23 gallon tank in mine. Wasn't sure I wanted the bill of filling 36 gallons at $4/gallon! However, it's nice to see around 400 miles on a tank with fuel to go. I was filling the Tacoma around 300. The DTE display is handy too.

    Edit:
Plus it added $190 to the cost I think, and was the cause of a back ordered production delay.

I generally like the f150 but I have been burned by enough dealers to turn me off of the brand. My family which strangely has become a Ford family have had odd expensive issues occur with their vehicles, my dad is now considering a used Lexus basing it on my experience with the Tacoma. Fit and finish for Ford has certainly gotten better in the years since I have written them off.

That was a concern of mine too. Toyota owner for years, knew one dealer to avoid, another "seemed" to treat me well until they refused to fix my Rav4 that was burning oil (TSB for it) and shutting off 4WD and VSC in the middle of winter. Then they told me I had to pay $400 for a Toyota ordered frame replacement. Their refusal to fix the Rav (even on my dime, not under the TSB) made me trade it for the Pathfinder a week later. Their BS with the frame pushed me to buy the Ford. Hoping with 3 Ford dealers within 30 miles one will be good.

    Thanks fellas!

I've been "researching" my first ever truck for over a year now. Quite franky, been wanting a truck for probably 3-4 years. Been a lurker, then a joined TW and F-150 forum last year.

I keep going back and forth wanting the LED headlight (Lariat 502a) vs what I can actually afford (XLT 302a).

So this is probably my 10th times configuring F-150. lol

    2016 F-150
    XLT SuperCrew
    5.0L
    302a
    5.5' bed
    4x4
    3.55 E-locker
    Oxford White exterior
    Black interior
    FX4
    Sport Pkg
    Twin panel moonroof
    Tailgate step
    Spray-in bed
    36 Gal-extended gas tank
    LED spot lights
    Trailer tow pkg

(Below not a must have list)
    Side window deflector
    Hood deflector
    Foldable bed extender
    Snow Plow prep (I know...but it's only a $50)

    I don't know....looks like I just might pull the trigger on a 2016 F150 XLT 302a.
2016 because of the updated Sync-3.
May need to contact the stealership on order & pricing.
I feel like with the X-Plan + the $1k Ford cash certificate, I may be able to get the above for around $39k...

Some pictures from the build pg.

The good news for me is there are something like 50 Toyota dealers within 90 miles or somesuch. I also may have been lucky in that I have only taken my truck in for recalls. Oil and plugs I can do myself.

Good call on the 2016 with Sync3. I'm kinda pissed the new model didn't get the new Sync, but whatever. I couldn't wait another year.

The optional stuff like hood deflector you can get later. I ordered mine via the dealer before finding a non-ford logo'd one on Amazon for $20 or $30 less.
