thats b.s they dont wait six months to wet sand and polish exotics etc you can wax polish right away. the dealer will do a p.d.i pre delivery inspection they farm it to a detail shop or do it in house which includes a cheapo wax job and they try to remove the glue thats left all over the paint from the white protective shipping plastic they leave the factory with.

 

False. Vehicles are shipped via train to their destinations. Rail dust gets all over your paint and while it's tough to see when you pick it up, eventually it can become a major problem. Take a zip lock back, put your hand inside, and gently rub any hood on any vehicle at a dealer and you will probably get resistance. If you use a clay bar on it that will remove the contaminates from the paint giving you a good clean surface. Also most dealers from what I've seen are terrible at detailing and contribute to swirls on the paint.

I would give the truck a solid claybar session. Then get a light polish and polish her up by hand. Won't take much effort seeing there should be zero swirls or defects. Then you can give it 2 coats of your favorite wax.

So, if the OP does not feel likedoing it himself, I would pay for a detail that did a good job. I would not let all that rail dust stay inthe paint.

I would not let the dealer vacuum my truck, let alone detail it. You do not want any dealer installed swirl marks on your new truck.

When I picked up my truck in May, I thought the truck was not "detailed" at all. Sure, a cheap wash + wax, brief vacuum and some tire shine slathered on. Sub par. So I spent the next few weekends installing Wet Okoles, floor liners and detailing. Full clay, finish polish, 2 coats Collinite wax, interior and engine detail. Looked 100 times better than any dealer could have done. Nuke--- definitely have a professional "tune" your rig up. It'll look great and make it that much easier to maintain going forward.
