    Depends on what you consider or require for a bug out bag. Some basic stuff to have would be;
    -First aid kit
    -set of bdu
    -boots
    -couple pairs of socks
    -gloves
    -hat/boonie
    -sunglasses
    -compass
    -fire starter
    -rope or 550 cord
    -fixed blade knife
    -folding knife
    -emergency space blanket
    -fishing line and hooks
    -signal mirror
    -etc.,

Plenty of stuff can be added, biggest thing to remember is not how much stuff you should/could have, but what you can physically carry. The bag is worthless if you are not physically capable of carrying it for distance. Best way, start a wish list of items you think you need/want and get the basics and start hiking with it, to see how it feels on your back and to figure out proper weight distribution in the bag. Hell, try jogging with it on your back for 1-3 miles. You only really need to think in an emergency what would be scarce or impossible to find, the other stuff you can loot/steal/kill for later. Me personally, medical supplies will trump all other items. All that other stuff is moot if you're injured or sick and you can't heal/fix yourself. Just my .02

Battle Dress Uniform (BDU), the uniforms the military wear. The older woodland camo is better than the current ACU patterned ones in my opinion. Or if you want to spend money on the mil spec Crye Precision Multicam are good too but expensive.

Check any military surplus stores around military installations, sometimes you find great deals on gear and supplies.

If the bag is in a secure location, maybe a small snub nose .38?

Solar charger that can be used for a cell phone battery.

Camping water filter and iodine tabs.

Also good to keep $250 cash and couple ounces of precious metals if you're making a bug out bag. Bartering is an often forgotten survival necessity

I was getting my morning cup of joe at the gas station and I spotted my old stage name on the creamer dispenser.

Here is a post I made in this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...lize-their-truck.185417/page-163#post-9892122

@Seabass is probably the local expert

Here is my layered approach to EDC/GHB: I have a Gerber shard on my key ring and rotate out an EDC folder depending on the mood of the day or attire. They can include a Case stockman, Hoffritz SAK I got when I was 10, a SOG Sogzilla, Benchmade Griptilian, Benchmade Mini Pika, CRKT M16, or a couple others.
I have a Maxpedition EDC organizer which includes the following items:
      • Streamlight Protac 2L flashlight
      • Leatherman Wave + bit set
      • Leatherman Croc tool
      • Lighter
      • duct tape wrapped on Sharpie markers
      • pencil & pens
      • notepad
      • Colt arrowheads
      • CRKT KSS ASSist Tanto

    edx%202%20of%204_zps10qs6v5e_ef0c3e940b111a5e58f95337e0791c33503d5f59.jpg
    edx%201%20of%204_zpspxoc2fhj_d3498011aac6cd3cf218a3e2ef9338c021eea098.jpg
The organizer can be carried by itself or put into my EDC/GHB which is usually kept in the truck. I decided to use a Mountainsmith Day lumbar pack for my EDC/GHB since it is not tactical looking and allows several carry options including the waistband, single shoulder strap, or I can attach the double shoulder strapettes. I am fortunate to live about 8 miles from home, so for my daily commute this is what I have.
      • Solar phone charger
      • Headlamp + batteries
      • Extra AA, AAA, & CR123a batteries
      • small red LED keylight
      • small waterproof match container with compass and whistle
      • matches
      • lighter
      • tinder/votive candle
      • Signal mirror
      • Emergency Mylar blanket
      • Fixed knife - ESSE Izula
      • Lansky PS-MED01 BladeMedic sharpener
      • Ziplocs
      • Carabiners
      • 100’ paracord
      • Nalgene bottle
      • iodine tablets
      • titanium 650 ml cup
      • titanium spork
      • 3 Granola bars
      • Lifestraw
      • superglue
      • emergency poncho
      • Adventure Medical Trekker FAK +
      • nail clippers
      • contacts x2
      • extra glasses
      • safety pins

    edx%204%20of%204_zpsrq9opcrw_bc614c95ecfd60cd012a8a39cc1d269f887619e4.jpg
Additional tools/supplies that are always in the truck include:
      • gallon of water
      • Gore tex paclite jacket
      • Danner GTX boots + socks
      • Gloves/ski hat
      • TP & wet wipes
      • work gloves
      • SOG Sogfari machete
      • Pulaski
      • spade shovel
      • ratchet straps
      • utility rope
      • tow straps
      • Hi-Lift jack
      • 12v inverter

      • Becker BK2
      • Spyderco Endura
      • Leatherman Blast
      • 3D-cell Maglight
      • large Crescent wrench
      • roll of duct tape
      • tool kit
      • 100’ paracord

For times when I am going out of town or into the desert/mountains I bring the Mountainsmith EDC/GHB along with my Osprey Atmos 50 backpack which includes the following items:
      • 6” crescent wrench
      • Duct tape roll
      • Zip ties
      • ESSE Laser Strike
      • Smith's 50408 Pocket Pal X2 Sharpener and Survival Tool
      • 6’ x 8’ camo tarp
      • Outdoor Research Advanced Gore Tex bivy sack
      • 40* synthetic lightweight sleeping bag
      • Emergency Mylar blanket
      • TP roll
      • Headlamp
      • Flashlight - Fenix & spare
      • More AA, AAA, & CR123a batteries
      • Lighter/matches/candles/firestarter
      • Nalgene bottle & iodine tablets
      • 100 oz camelback bladder + Sawyer filter
      • Steripen
      • cook pot
      • titanium 650 ml cup
      • Esbit stove + fuel tabs – I also have a MSR Whisperlite International that may be used
      • 4 mountain house meals
      • fork/spoon/spork
      • Ziplocs
      • trash bags
      • Carabiner x2
      • Webbing + paracord
      • Paper/pen/sharpie
      • Adventure Medical Basecamp FAK +
      • ace bandage
      • Old eyeglasses
      • eyeglass repair kit
      • safety pins
      • superglue
      • toothbrush
      • compass
      • microfiber rag
      • Gloves/ski hat
      • Poncho/rain pants
      • extra LS t-shirt
      • GoLite synthetic down jacket
      • boonie hat
      • socks x 2
      • contacts x4

While there is definitely duplication, I set it up this way so that I can grab them in a hurry if needed or go through and lighten the load by removing duplicates if time allows. Firearms that I carry include A S&W 438 snubby, Glock 23, or a Springfield XD9 tactical depending on where I am going. I think I am pretty well covered for myself, but now I want to start thinking about what to carry if my wife and baby girl are along as well.
