I finally found some '16s. DCSB Sport and an SR5 access cab. First off, they do look pretty damn sweet in person. However, I did feel like the scoop on the hood of the Sport, along with the skirt on the bottom of the front-end, to be too much... and the new front-end had a slightly "flimsy" look to it. Also, I did not like the SR5 grille as much as I thought I would. The 4Runner front-end next to it looks tougher and more in proportion. I think for me the Off Road '16 style will be the best. Overall, the new look is pretty cool, and makes the '15s look dated quickly. The tramp stamp on the back looks great!

I was only able to drive the Sport in the parking lot because the "office branch" owns the trucks, not the dealer, whatever that means. It was a manual, and seemed fun and peppy...the interior of the truck is nice. The cab felt great.

I know you did not get to drive it much but more details on the manual please. Did the shifting feel better from the previous gen, travel between the gears? Engagement feel better?

I never drove a manual 2 gen. But it definitely felt good, engaged well. Unfortunately, I am the wrong guy to ask about manual....I haven't owned a manual since the 90s.

Thanks, Love the recurring theme of "it looks better in person" I am starting to believe it

The 2016's are starting to look perfectly normal to me now after seeing so many images of them. I thought they looked better in person as well. The good part is that those who do not like the styling won't be forced to buy one.

It's the angle, the front-end does make it look a bit smaller, but overall not much....that's a strange pic...the Runner was a few feet back.

If Toyota starts dropping the price of the '15s maybe....but I doubt they will, and so far they are priced similar. Once you sit in them and drive them both, you realize the '16 beats out the '15.....looks and all. This is coming from a huge fan of the 2nd gens.

He's going to be hating his little animated Home Alone thing when he sees these truck on the road....there is not doubt they will grow on him. The design is really not all that drastic... looks like a pickup.

I thought the Runner had a big grill/front end. The 16 Tacomas grill is ridiculous!!!!!

Only thing I like better on the '16's front end is the headlights

I commend Toyota for what they are doing. Sure the 4Runner and Taco front-ends have room for improvement, but compared to all their competitors they look pretty damn good.

Look at Nissan, they turn the Pathfinder into an f'n station wagon, discontinue the Xterra and are making the Frontier look like a car. Obviously, Toyota wants to remain the worldwide leader in off-road/lifestyle trucks. They are attempting to make their trucks aggressive and tough to go along with what their trucks can do.

Also, they have to compete with their big grille competitors like GMC, Ford and RAM.
