LOL, maybe that is the forum I'm part of. I went on there just to check my F150 pricing quick and that was it. It shows how often I'm on there.

I'm on F150forum as well, same username. I will say - those guys bitch about the littlest things as "problems", so you can get a little nervous just scanning the topics list. I've seriously seen people complain that the sunglasses get hot in the sunglass holder on that website.

I think I've counted 4 of us on here that swapped our 2nd gen Tacomas for 2015 F150s, or added a 2015 F150. So far, I don't think any of us regret it, so hopefully that helps give some clarity as to whether the F150 is a good truck or not. I'm at almost 12k miles on mine in just about 5 months, and haven't had a single mechanical problem. I had one piece of leather replaced under warrantly due to a finish issue, and my AC seats are being fixed with the TSB. Other than that, it's been perfect. That being said - my Tacoma was a great truck too - one of the best vehicles I owned from a reliability standpoint. I hope this one proves to be just as reliable!

90% of the time you hear an F150 complaint it's from a fanboy of Toyota, GM, or Dodge and it reads like this:

"My cousins uncles best friends roomates aunts step child had a F150 Ecoboost and the turbos went in, like, 2K miles because that engine is shit and Ford put literally no thought into reliability. More importantly, my scientific explanation is that FORD stands for found on road dead, dontcha know!"

And if it's a Dodge owner, this will follow (a friend of mine actually said this):

"Your Ford will blow out the front end towing 6000 lbs. I know my Dodge 1500 did, and it's a tougher truck than a Ford"

Personally, as someone who works at a place with a pile of Fords on the lot, I have only seen one Ecoboost go bad out of a dozen and Ford took care of the issue right away. Oh, and that engine went bad because some idiot stuck a tiny aftermarket filter on it and it inhaled it the media

For the price difference between the two? The gas mileage doesn't matter. The tundra can be had for what 5000 less? That is 5 years at a 1000 dollar spread in fuel cost(it might even only be 800)
You are dreaming if you think youre going to make more power and get better MPG(20 percent better at that) in a gas engine.

    Good luck.

Or Ford has actually built a new engine for trucks in the past 5 years. It's not a dream. It's called R&D. Everyone but Toyota is doing it on V8's.

After discounting, the difference between a Ford and Toyota 1/2 ton would of been 8K for me. In Fords favor.

Ford owners don't need luck. This isn't 20 years ago where Toyota is good as gold and everyone else is shit. What would you say if I told you good luck with your frame if you ever go near salt? At least that would be truthful, unlike your comment.

this stupid thread is making me think i should've put more time into the debate between Taco and F150.

5000 less than what? I paid $38.5K for my F150 (MSRP $46.2K), I dont think an equally optioned Tundra could be had for anything less? And they are actually offering alot more off the 15's now than when I bought mine 3 months ago.

I think the base motor is the 2.7 ecoboost. Still quite powerful. Personally, the Tacoma just wasn't big enough for me. I had a DCLB and parking was only slightly better than my F150. The supercrew inside is huge. I have the 3.5 ecoboost and it is a powerhouse. Fuel mileage is about the same as my Tacoma and FJ were getting.

One thing I would do differently next time is get the 5.5' bed. The 6.5' bed is a little long. Quality wise I bought my F150 used but I haven't had any real issues so far knock on wood. Sync is a little buggy.

You can get either the 5.0 L or 2.7 L for about the same price. It was that way when I was buying my F150. The base engine in the F150 is the 3.5 L V6 non Ecoboost. It's not common and only really there for companies that want it in a commercial duty long box truck to get the absolute lowest price.

The 3.5 L Ecoboost is insane down low for torque. It's almost commical watching other trucks try to launch with 5000 lbs of trailer on them compared to the Ecoboost. The Ford is literally at the 100 foot mark 2-3x faster than even the 4.1 geared Tundra.

I just played with the build a tundra page.

I can't even build one close to my F150. Yes, it's about 5 grand less with all the options. But here are the differences:
    • No moon roof
    • No heated sliding rear window
    • No heated front seats
    • Power/lumber on driver seat only, not for front passenger
    • No heated mirrors
    • Manual spare tire release, lock extra. F150 is power controlled by the key.
    • Locking tailgate? I don't even know, Toyota doesn't mention it. Going assume no on that as well.
    • No LED lights in the bed
    • No "puddle" or courtesy lights in the mirrors
    • No mention of down hill assist control
    • No mention of rear locker

I added about $10k in options to my truck, so base it would have been $41k, right around the Tundra. However, I had the option to add things Toyota doesn't even offer. All that, and better gas mileage? Why not. ;)

Tundras have heated seats, bed lights, heated mirrors, locking tailgate, mine has lights in the mirrors... just to clarify

Don't worry about it. This is just more Toyota diehards swearing that nothing can touch the almighty Tundra! When I bought my F150 a few members on here rode me around like a rented mule trying to tell me I could of had a Tundra for cheaper and with 18 mpg even though it was all BS

One Con to your list is no heated sliding window. The Crewmax's rear window is heated and the whole window rolls down.

But not on the same options packages. Just FYI Toyota bundles everything, so there is no pick and choose options. I could of put about 50 different options on our XLT if I had of wanted to. Try to get those options on an SR5 Tundra...
