I've been having a really weird problem with my HVAC controls for the last few weeks. Sometimes when I start the truck it will turn on with the AC and Recirc on regardless of the settings when I turned it off. Then the AC will stay on even if I press the button. When the AC does turn off it'll often come right back on. The recirc button acts similarly. The truck only does this when I first start it and it goes away and the controls return to normal after running for a few minutes. It does not do this every time I start it, probably once or twice a week.

Could something be shorting out? I'd be willing to replace the panel if it'll fix it. I just hate throwing parts at a problem not knowing if it's the correct fix.

I have done the No AC with defrost and disable max AC mods but those were done months before this problem started up. Anybody ever experience anything similar or have any ideas? Below are two videos of it acting up this week.

Have you pulled the cluster and checked the wire harness?

First I would start here at the mods. Something may have come loose.

I'll check them but I did defrost without AC when I bought the truck 4 years ago and the other one back in March. Plus I would think if it was mod related it would happen randomly when the wires short/are out of position. The issue only ever arises when I start the truck and then its fine regardless of if I drive 10 minutes or 6 hours.

I'll double check all the connections this evening to be sure nothing came loose
