How much did you all pay to get your license tags?

i have to go get tags at some point this month and I'm wondering how much it's going to end up costing me. Thanks!

IL: paid $100
NC: paid $450
GA: paid $1600

Youre state may have an online estimator though (ks does)

 

I could be wrong but I feel like this information could be more quickly found by using Google and your state DMV or similar website?

Actually it depends on the county, because they handle plates and registration for the state, in addition to setting their own fees. Here, type, age, weight, and an a percentage of MSRP are the primary factors.

To answer your actual quesiton, mine has been $180 the past few years (since 2011 when it hit minimum age fee, note I drive an 07), but Larimer has road and bridge fees on top of the tax and license fees that other counties may not have. Best thing is to go to your county DMV site and several have estimators or tell you what the formula is. It was $580 the first year.

 

Was the 580 when it was a brand new truck? like in 2007?

 

Give you an idea boulder county brand new 2014 tacoma 750.00 first year in dec 2013 after that was around 5 or 6. Curious this year as i moved to weld county. Has to be better than boulder i hope.

I just renewed my 2014 in arapahoe county for $416. I bought it new(july 2014) and last year it was a little over $600. If I had to guess a 09 will be a couple hundred bucks.

MSRPs have shot up the last several years. The fees differ from county to county, but the tax percentages I think are the same everywhere, so you can see them on the Arapahoe link above.

My bad. I followed estimate link this time, yes, three days. Pretty antiquated system.

 

Either way this gave me an estimate of $203 l, I would love for it to be that low haha

 

I sure don`t miss that style of registration

Then here we pay 6 % sales tax when the vehicle is registered the first time

 

I pay $70/yr for my 98 in Boulder Co.

It has a lot to do with truck's value. And as many mentioned before, after year 5 it drops considerably.
