Hey guys, long time no posty! I'm removing my factory 16" rims since the clearcoat is ruined. Snagged some 2015 *I think* Tacoma Prerunner 17" rims. I've heard they are 9/16" more towards the inside, and after mounting the rims without tires on them it looks like the 265/70/R17's I've got for them might rub or be very close! I'm looking at 1/4" spacers since I dont like much spacing.

Has anyone been able to mount these rims with 1/4" spacers using extended lug nuts? (cheater lugs I guess some call them?) If not then I'm going extended lug studs route and heard Toyota Matrix studs are longer but by how much?

The first picture is the new rims and the third is the original rims, very little difference if any. No spacers are on either pictures. You can see the new rim is'nt fully seated by the dirt markings :p Thanks for any input guys...I probably should of bought 265/65/R17's instead...to help some :s

Question... why would you go to a larger rim?
From my experiences, smaller rims come with cheaper tire costs and selection. Not to mention, when aired down, more sidewall equals better traction while off road.

    Just curious, not bashing.

    Good luck.

I just wanted some better condition rims that mine, my clearcoat is ruined, has all those crawl marks where the sealant around the edges has let stuff in. They were a good deal and only have about 4 months of usage on them. I think they look a tad better too :D I mean ultimately I'd love to have some Custom SCS's but until then these will suffice :)

New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
they will fit without spacers, I am running 265/70/17 on mine, close without spacers, I went with bora .75 hubcentric to bring them back to stock...if you use 1/4" spacers you lose the hubcentering capabilities of the wheel to the hub, could cause vibrations...

Mount tires and go from there. I would go with the "adapter" spacers the use their own lugs. Go with the 1" atleast.

Thanks bldegle2 & devinzz1, yes the BORA ones look nice and one of few to have 3/4" too. Think I'll maybe grab some just incase beforehand and for in the future maybe. I bought 4 KUMHO Road Venture AT51 265/70/R17 for $600 -$20 promocode for signing up with newsletter, and then a manufacturers rebate for $120 off this model of tire, so thats $460 for the tires in total after rebate is honored. Can I link outside estore links? I've been away so long I cannot remember!

Forgot to update on the tires and rims. Got them on and they look amazing spacers were perfect. Though it took over 3 weeks to get them made and delivered. Tires are nice and smooth riding not much road noise.

ya they were 265/65. the width wouldn't change so rubbing wouldn't be a concern if I had kept them and went to 265/70.

interesting, but kind of overkill :notsure:

if you're going that far out get hub-centric spacers for security sake

I run some steelies and that 1/4" spacer laying there. No balance issues at all. The length is needed to get more than 3 threads on the nuts.
