Has anyone installed a supercharger on their 2015 Tacoma? My dealer tells me that there's no ECU flash-whatever... how different can it be from 2014??

There is nothing different, what this means is that either the dealer or Toyota hasn't certified their programing for the MY 2014 or 2015 with the EPA. In a nutshell, the gov't wants a cut every year from manufactures for emissions testing and greenhouse gas requirements.

Since this typically comes to a manufacture as a "fine" the manufacture has to determine every year or predict how many Superchargers will sell, and if it's worse paying the gov't the fine to get the blessing from the EPA to basically make another exception allowing them to sell this.

It's BS, but that's the politics behind it.

I got the initial evaluation and dealer told me my 2015 was ok for the TRD s/c. I have the s/c install scheduled for next week (Dec 18-19) and nobody said anything about the lack of an ECU flash.

Will do mikecoscia. I'll also post my dyno sheets, both pre and post install. My results so far are 195 hp and AF starting from 14.5 and going to around 10 at WOT.

Well I got my 2015 DCLB automatic (with a camper shell) back today with the S/C installed. I didn't get pics yet, but it looks like the other tacos with a bad assed TRD inscribed supercharger that is partially covered by the OEM air box.
First impressions? Is it a tire frying, fishtailing, thundering hulk that shakes the street, sets off car alarms, makes old ladies weep, little children scream, young girls wet and ricers jealous when it drives by?
    Ah, no.
Does it perform better @ 4,500 feet that it used to? Definitely.
Does it get a little scratch in first gear w/ factory tires? Now it does.
Does it go from zero to sixty in under 10 seconds? Now it does.
Is it getting better gas mileage? Not the way I'm driving it.
Is it fun to drive? Fuckin'-A-Skippy!
Would I spend the money and do it all over again? (See previous answer)
Will I be towing with it? Yep, probably in 4th gear over Donner Pass.
Is the supercharger whine too loud, disorienting, confusing, sounds like interstellar aliens following me? Please don't ask, buy a Prius instead if you think any of those might be of a personal concern.
    Was it expensive? Yes
Will Toyota finance a supercharger with your new Tacoma? No
Will your wife be pissed if you take $$ out of savings to buy a s/c after having just bought a new Tacoma 2 weeks earlier? Yes...very, very pissed.
So there you have it, I've put about 35 miles (1 drive cycle) on my new s/c and am looking forward to my ECU getting used to its new re-flash and my Gibson exhaust getting broken in and losing the rather high pitched, annoying gargle that seems to be afflicting it presently.
Next on board are the afr and boost gauges, nestled into the Craven speed column mounts and maybe a cold air exhaust so I can see the starboard side TRD logo.
Note to self: Don't take $$ out of saving for future mods.

Sweet! I will definitely be picking on up next year. Look into the CAI, I remember reading on the forum that you are not to use them with the S/C. It is either one or the other, but not both. Forgot the reason why though.

Granted, I live at 600' above sea level, but they will clearly break loose. We're not talking tire-frying, but they will go. We have a lot of polished asphalt roads + enough rain that I really have to pay attention some times. On ramps in the rain make me focus. Sometimes I just slip it into 4wd if it's raining and I'm on regular asphalt.

I do not think you will be sorry mikeccoscia when you get your S/C next year.
It is my understanding (again, no expert here; but there are several other forum members with excellent information on the subject) that a CAI is not necessarily a bad thing for a s/c motor-several members already have them installed on their s/c'd motors.
A CAI could negatively impact your afr if not monitored...which is why I'm getting the afr guage installed first. I want to make sure I have a good baseline reading and not have to worry about going too lean after the CAI install.
Secondly, because of the blower, a CAI is really not necessary and probably provides little to no real hp gains.
So why install a CAI? Well, after installing a CAI the TRD S/C is now fully exposed and it is a great aesthetic. The whine could also get a little louder and the exhaust tone a little deeper.
Please don't take my word for it, check it out, do a search; you'll have lots of time to get it figured out.
    Merry Christmas :)

Meh, some of those answers aren't quite correct... Toyota CLAIMS they won't finance it, my super charger was installed prior to me signing paperwork - really depends on your dealer.

I never had a tacoma without a super charger but I can tell you it's by all means not fast - I am sure it's loads better with it than without.

I tow a 6k lb wakeboard boat and trailer with my SC'd tacoma with little problem - but the mileage is ATROCIOUS while towing, like in the 6-8mpg range at best

Do a boost gauge, but frankly an AFR gauge is useless - I realize lots will disagree with me, but the reality is your truck is NEW, and you are using a flash from toyota, so your truck is under warranty, an AFR gauge is far too slow to react to tell you whether or not it's safe - if you see it flash 19:1 while towing uphill at 5000 RPM, it's too late, damage is done. It'd be different if you could take that wide band and plumb it back into the ECU for some type of feedback fueling but the system is dumb so it is what it is, unless you just want another gauge to look at, in which case that's fine, just realize it's going to be inaccurate and irrelevant.

I have the craven speed flexpod like you're going to get, fitment is great, and if you use some good hockey tape the install looks damn near OEM on my boost gauge. I got a -20 to +15 gauge by autometer, and used a red LED in it. There are other options for a boost gauge but I had a hard time finding one that read less than 30psi but more than 10.

Buy the smaller pulley from URD, and put that on as soon as possible ;)

I've got 12k miles on my truck (picked it up with the SC at 6 miles) and have run it pretty hard, so far so good - but the SC whine is most definitely annoying..

    Good luck and have fun!

    zmw,
    Thanks for the clarifications.
I asked about the smaller pulley and was told that installing it would void my warranty.
Have you had any warranty issues with the dealership since your pulley install?

I have the AFE Stage 2 Sealed Intake and I have had no problems with the truck for nearly 40,000 supercharged miles. I did install a URD mid-pipe. It's not much louder than stock, I picked up some MPGs and dropped a little time in the 1/4 mile.

I am curious as well about the MPG. I live in Colorado and it's annoying going up a hill with my 2012 jumping in and out of 3rd gear. I'd like to have some torque that can pull some hills on the interstate. Will the super charger help with that?

My "average" in the winter when they force us to use the ethonol additive is around 14mpg. Now I'm getting around 15mpg.
"Average" depends on where/how you drive of course. I'm not on the freeway much, mainly stop and go around town.
"Average" also means driving the speed limit, no jackrabbit starts etc.
When I drive it to have fun...well then plan on 12-13 mpg.
I have a camper shell so there's a lot of extra weight. I also like to drive with the TC off, so that may hamper the milage a little, but it does seem to improve the throttle response.
If you & your wife share a gas credit card, you might hear a little bit about how the S/C has diminished your milage...otherwise its just between you and the smile on your face as you drive around town. Getting onto the freeway is a little different though, its easy to not notice you are doing 90 when trying to negotiate traffic as you accelerate to a safe speed.

A Wide band AFR gauge is by no means to slow. I have had lean run conditions is other cars that were being pushed :burnrubber:way harder then a tacoma every will be and by paying attention to the gauge;), I was able to let out before damage was done.:D That's the point of having a gauge is you pay attention to them.

Yes. Not really a big deal, $0.20/gal more with a 21 gal tank means a max price increase of $4.20/tank if you were to fill up from being dry. More likely in the $3 range increase per fuel up. Well worth it IMO.
