This is one issue that really bothers me about the Tacoma.... If you get the "keyless start", then you still need to carry the regular key to open the tailgate. WTF was Toyota thinking?!?!?!!!

Given that issue, I'd almost rather not even have the keyless start and just use the regular key. I do NOT want to have to carry both the key fob and the regular key. I have enough crap in my pockets already.

Guess I'll make my first post... Keep the tailgate key in the truck, carry the key fob in your pocket. I agree though, they could have implemented a keyless entry tailgate like Dodge. Then the truck would be $48,000 though.

Even vehicles that cost $15k have a keyless entry system that unlocks the trunk along with the doors. Why Toyota cannot do that with the tailgate on their truck is beyond me. It's not like there are no wires running to the rear of the truck. There are lights back there, and a backup camera on the tailgate. It wouldn't have been too difficult to have the tailgate unlock with the central locking system of the vehicle.

Costs too much money. Plus Toyota has no respect for their loyal customers, plain and simple.

LOL, I love how a simple request asking what the key fob looks like turned into bashing the key fob and Toyota. Hilarious!

There are few things that are certain in the universe. This is one thing that is certain in the 3rd gen forums. I call it Tunngavik's Law.

Why is it blank? Is this some kind of skill key that opens any door?

    Is what blank?

The key is the glove box lock/ valet key
So the valet key in the remote opens the door and glovebox. The extra key only opens the tailgate.

Better yet. Why is it Friday night and I'm posting on Tacoma world instead of being invited to an orgy?

Its not blank its laser cut. Adds a lot to the price of the key you wont use to often.
