Am I sick for buying a 270 hp V8 which is more power than I could use, but trolling the SC threads?

 

After owning one myself, No. Mines fairly gutless. Or at least lack of response.

 

The only explanation you need is 'because... supercharger'

You have the non vvti right? That extra 30 or so hp helps. My truck has way more power than my sc 3.4 but the 4Runner was quick because of being light.

Is that the one that te SC doesn't do much for? Someone told me the 4.7 v8 4runner SC just barely does anything due to to much compression or something? Or am I listening to the voices again?

 

Nope barely touched it since I bought the truck. I removed the SC and Urd stuff but still need to do my valve covers, paint or replace the hood, clean it and post for sale. Doesn't help that I left for Montana for a week (here now) just a week after buying and have to go to my brother in laws bachelor party camping trip two days after getting back from Montana. Probably the second week of October I will start on it.

Yeah I made sure I got vvti and a 5 speed trans.

 

I know it adds about 50-70 hp but some people had issues of blowing engines. I'd have to fabricate a fuel rail for the vvti to work.

 

I mean the bolt on TRD one. I swear i heard/read somewhere it only gives like less than 50 hp because of issues like blowing up and stuff, so they had to keep the compression and boost low

 

Yeah you have to stay at 6 psi or else you risk messing the engine up. You can build the engine to handle more boost but it didn't like it stock

 

Interesting. I've considered tossing a 4.7 into the tacoma once i'm done with the 1GR. Tempted to find one used and just start tinkering and upgrading internals for install down the road.

 

Sure as hell wouldn't be a legal swap. It'll fit though.

In order for the swap to be legal its gotta be a newer or same year motor of the vehicle its going in

Unless that changed with all those new fangled smog laws a couple years ago?
