I'm more inclined toward running boards, but want something well built and sturdy; minimal hang. I checked with one source and OEM P/N's are not available yet, but there seems to be a ton of after-market stuff out there; 2016 fitment is unknown at this time. I'm not in a hurry, but any recommendations from other Tacoma owners on what they are happy with on previous years?

I have heard that the OEM running boards are pretty flimsy, so I went with Lund nerf bars for my 15. Love em.

I added the black tube steps to mine as it was just easier, and my wife and kids will need the step.

I will be adding some N-Fab steps as soon as I get my DCLB. They are similar to the predator steps that you can add factory, but a lot better deal. I had regular oval tube steps on my 08 and they aren't very ergonomic except for getting just your toes on, so I am going with the slight drop loop steps this time.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the 2016 models have all new options for running board type thingys.

However, in most cases, you can get a better or identical step for much less aftermarket.

Amazon does not allow for the 16 Tacoma yet. But my Cart is full of goodies. Autoanything.com has the 2016 Tacoma as an ordering option. Seems the running board mounts are the same for 2016. Coverking Leatherette seat covers will be first on order.

Thanks all. I'm sure OEM is priced high, but who has the best?

Not sure who has the "best", but carid.com has a pretty good selection of styles and brands and reasonable looking prices. Somebody else may have other good sources, but I just did a quick google for aftermarket tube steps.

Careful with the Amazon car fit tool... It sucks. Had to return the first set of nerf bars because the fit tool on Amazon was high on crack.

Go Rhino RB10 looks decent. Carid shows 2016 fit, yet Go Rhino does not. I think we need a bit more time for 2016 info to be accurate.

I checked the part # on our 2016s as they started rolling in and they are the same for 15 & 16. We also put a set on a 16 that we took off a 15 last month. Hope this helps

The steps don't stick out further than the doors. The sliders do. This thread isn't about sliders

Most of the stuff I've looked at does stick out beyond the doors and horstuff is right about the intent.

OP asked about aftermarket also... 5" nerf bars stick out way farther than the door.

When you get these installed, is there an easy way to turn them off?

I can see a situation like where I come out in the morning and it snowed and my vehicle has been buried by the local plow and opening the door and having those steps drop down would probably cause the motor to break as there would be no space for them to deploy.

Or you could be off roading and maybe you have to exit the vehicle at a time where there is some obstacle blocking the deployment of the running boards.
