where to run tailpipes for dual exhaust

I'm about to order a flowmaster 40 with the center inlet and the dual outlets. I was thinking about running one tail pipe out the passenger side in front of the rear tire and one out the driver side in front of the rear tire. Running a pipe over to the driver side looks a little tricky to me.

Has anybody done this or have a good suggestion as to wear i should place the pipe? Or should i scrap the whole idea?

If someone has run tailpipes out either side of their truck, in front of the rear tire, a picture of the piping would be greatly appreciated.

Could you shorten the pipes for a dual side rear exits. Then it can come out in front of the wheel.

Yeah i like that, but i don't know if i can swing that right now.

I just need an idea of how to route the pipe over to the driver side. I'm concerned about having it rub against the driveshaft.

 

I was thinking about doing that when I was doing the exhaust, but it just seemed to difficult to run it there so I just stayed with stock piping. I have a flowmaster on my 2.7l it sounds real good, but if I was going to get something now I would go with the dynomax superturbo. The flowmaster is said to not give any performance gains if not decrease hp. I say try what you are thinking about it will look great, but I would think about the dynomax over the flowmaster.

and as far as the duals go if you want it in front of the tire stay to the passenger side. or go all the way back.

Flowmaster's dual exhaust kits route out behind the rear tire on both sides.

Personally, I like out the rear - but you might have some issues with the spare tire being in the way (and I'd hate to see what you'd have to do to route around it).

 

Thanks for the advice, i'm going to take a look at the dynomax, i was leaning towards the flowmaster because it didn't have that rice burner sound that i'm trying to get away from.

 

Yea I dont like the rice burner sound either. I honestly dont know what the dynomax sounds like on a 2.7l but this is what mine sounds like flowmaster and lce header the header made a big diff. in the way it sounds. Dont turn the volume up untill about 7sec. it had just rained and I set the camera on a plastic bag.

I have heard that the glass packs just blow out the filler in them after a few weeks, leaving you wiht straight pipes pretty much? Is that true?

 

yup pretty much, but we speed up the process. after welding all of the pipe together, before we put it on the truck, we dumped Gas in the pipe shook it up, then let it burn for about an hour.
