Thanks! Good to know, we have something to use as a "standard."

Emailed about 30 dealers around the area and most didn't respond, and the bunch that did wanted MSRP or higher, a couple were like $200 below MSRP. Pasadena Toyota responded with a proper $500 over invoice so i took it. Good luck!

Good for you, there's absolutely no reason to pay any more for a small truck than a few hundred over invoice. If you can't get this deal, or are too impatient to wait 6 months or so for the marketing buzz to go away, then you deserve to be fleeced.

What does the size of a vehicle have to do with its selling price in relation to MSRP?

Please do a search and read the existing threads. We shouldn't derail this thread with that topic.

Too many parts & pieces to itemize in one post. And as noted, don't want to muck up the thread.
Some parts are cosmetic. Some mechanical. Any real "advantage" would be personal.

I can't really read that window sticker, the photo isn't quite high-res enough. I know the 2016 Corolla is shipping with Siri Eyes Free. Is the Tacoma? Do we get CarPlay?

It has Siri Eyes Free but no CarPlay. For that reason alone, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the base SR and swap out the head unit for an aftermarket one.

Right now CarPlay may not seem like a huge deal, but just wait another 3 years and it will be a night and day difference. Just look how fast the technology on our phones and tablets are moving...

$500 over invoice is a very reasonable deal at this time. Yeah, there are a few getting better, but it's not something way out of line.

Also, time is money, so now he doesn't have to spend any more time searching far and wide for (at best) another $500 and will be driving that much sooner.

$500 over invoice seems like a solid deal for a brand new model that seems to be pretty high in demand.

They're finally hitting dealerships here in south Louisiana. I live around the corner from a Toyota dealership and pass it multiple times a day usually. Saw the first 2016 last week (only 1 on the lot) and it was gone the next day. Yesterday when I passed the auto transporter was there about 5 or so trucks on it...

Well, I spent a half hour sitting in the new Tacos tonight. All three of the low-trim options had head units appearing identical to the 2015 year, so there's a good chance that their cell-linked navigation and Siri compatibility can be transplanted into 2nd gen trucks.

Edit: They arrived today, and probably will depart tomorrow. Perfect timing! :D
