I'd get on top of it ASAP. That's a lot to spend on a truck you don't get to keep.

I think leasing it has severely limited your options. Anything you do to get out of the lease is going to cost you more money (right? Have you checked the terms?). You might look into buying an old Honda Accord/Civic or similar Toyota for your commuter, but are you really going to save enough money to cover the several grand you spend on that (you'll only be saving the difference in mpg's) plus additional insurance?

Lick your wounds and pay out the terms... You sign the line you do the time. 465/ month is about 5500 a year. Find cheaper alternatives to cut in your budget. Pack lunch, make coffee at home, cut cable and go roku, cook dinner rather than going out. Position yourself to purchase the right vehicle at the right price. Check out Mr. Money Moustache on the inter web. Our money always slips away $3,$5,& $25 at a time, not $465. Credit cards are the anti Christ. I would love to mod my taco, but until I own it free and clear, it is not mine. The bank lets me drive it for $500 a month. I put $18,000 down. In 3 years it is paid off. Then I will drive it for 7 more years. 10 years and 200k miles is pretty common for our rigs. See what the lease buy out is when you come due.

You can buy the lease out at anytime which is what would happen if I sold it or traded it in.
Insurance I probably won't save that much. I have a guy so I get a pretty good rate as it is.

Every trip to change terms at the stealership results in worse terms for you. They aren't our friends... Ever.

Yup. Live and learn. Is it just me or does that seem wicked high to lease a taco...I would have thought like $350 ish. I've never looked into a lease but I thought part of the appeal was slightly lower payments than buying

It depends on the situation. I rolled a couple grand of negative equity into this truck which is part of the reason my payment is so high.

    Live and learn...

Maybe consider a car, depending what you get the GPM can be much better.

Wonder if you can refinance to buy and get a better payment? Have you considered a used 6 cylinder 4x4 type 1?
