That's a really nice truck you got. I actually like the look of double cab long bed vs. short bed once it grew on me. As for function, I could not live without at least a 6ft bed and my next truck needs to be a 4 door so that makes my decision simple.

Where the hell did you get goofy from, looks very proportioned compared to the "goofy" short beds

Not trying to offend anyone, just my personal opinion.

I think the short bed makes the truck look more proportional to me.

I disagree. That's a fine looking truck you've got there. In fact, that's what I'm buying in 20 years when I wear this one out. :D

To me, there isn't enough difference in bed size on the Tacoma to scrutinize. They all seem short to me. For me, that's one of the main drawbacks on this truck. Like the ladies say, I like 'em long. Beds, that is.

I agree the difference is so small it's kinda silly to get into a big arguement over functionality. For some people that actually like to haul atvs/dirt bikes in the bed though the extra 12 inches might sway them. Personally, I find a little trailer a thousand times easier/better for hauling something like that. And then the added weight of the long bed lowers the hauling capacity of the bed anyway. Long bed also hurts your angles/capability when offroading.

Looks wise I find the short bed to be much more attractive. The long bed just looks off without a lift kit. With lift kit its not bad, but just too large for me for a mid sized truck.

Also no Offroad long bed = no sale.

Im assuming this is a poll for DC. I have a reg cab long bed and i get the best of both worlds. long bed, short ass truck. Cant carry anybody though, but ive got a trailblazer for that...

I wanted offroad function. My short wheelbase is sweet for offroading. Could you imagine a shortbed reg cab??

I went from a 3/4t chevy ext. cab shortbed to my reg cab tacoma. My chevy was considered short for the class and i got used to parking that boat. I looked really stupid parking my tacoma and having to back up and straighten out because the truck turned so sharp.

Long bed won't fit in my garage, short bed does. Can't get the off road package in the long bed. If I have something bigger to haul I just drive 20 minutes to pick up the family trailer. I live 2 miles from Home Depot and 4 miles from Lowes... not a big deal to make 2 trips instead of 1.

I'm going to buy these for hauling lumber: http://www.usrack.com/rail_rack.php

If bed size were a priority, I wouldn't have purchased the Tacoma. I would have gotten a full size truck.

I'd say long. Short looks ok stock but if you lift it the truck then looks like a little toy. I like having the extra room for camping, surfboards, snowboards, stuff basically. Each to their own but once you lift a long box six in the truck then looks pretty proportional.

The one driving force for me to say short bed is I can park the damm thing in a crowded parking lot.....The long bed is just way to much, especially when you have 5 or 6 cars behind you and the minute you turn your wheel into the space they get right up on your ass and won't let you back up....:D

i bought my truck for 3 reasons, 4x4 capability in crappy weather, fireroads etc when hiking/camping, switch from manual to automatic transmission because of the daily commute and to move around the bicycles and motorcycle. I went with the smallest configuration that would get me all three, which was the v6 access cab. What I would love: Reg Cab, 4x4 with an auto, and if they through in 4 wheel disc brakes that truck would be king.

    Well,

    Cosmetically.. Long Bed
    Function.. Long Bed

    Ride Quality.. Short Bed
    Turning Radius.. Short Bed

I like the long bed, But opted for the short bed. For my style driving and daily use of the vehicle, the short bed was the most practical choice for me.

However, i believe both are great choices regardless
