I am not a troll. Never owned a Tacoma before, never rode in a Tacoma before. I see the trucks everywhere and boy do they look sharp. Fell in love with the XSP X package, it's a South East thing, almost bought a '15 XSP X for 33,9 2wd but someone bought it out from under me. This was on Labor Day, sales guy said I should look at getting a '16. Fell in love with the technology and looks of the Limited.

I test drove a '16 TRD Sport at one stealership and a '16 SR5 at another. My over all impression is Tacomas' are not for me. Yes the 3.5 is sluggish off the block. Yes once you get the rpms up it will move along. It revs like a 4 banger rice burner (no offense)On the Sport I felt a drive train vibration at all speeds. THe ride comfort was good on the Sport, on the SR5 it was awful. I could hear the roar of the tires, I could "feel" the road. The SR5 ride didn't feel refined it felt like I was riding in a Jeep.THe Limited and the SR5 suppose to have the same suspension, no way I could live with that ride quality especially on the top trim. Lastly the leg room. My left leg was never in a comforable position. There was nothing there for it rest on, it was uncomfortable and awkward even on a short ride. I'm 6'1, I put the manually operated seat where I wanted it then I looked back at the rear seat to see how much leg room was left for the passengers, they had 3 to 4 inches. That was the deal breaker. I can't spend the next 10 years cramming myself so a rear passenger can have leg room. I finished up the td then we talked money. THe sales manger took me on the td bc the sales guy was busy. He, tried to get me to pay MSRP,( 40K LTD 4wd cover tow matts) and wouldn't budge.. We weren't getting anywhere and I thought that was the end, then he said I'll be rite back. Little while later a stiff walked in. He immediately went into high pressure sales mode. Finally he said " what would it take to earn your bz" I said 37K. He dropped his number to 39,006. The other stealership quoted me 37 and change and said if you find a better deal let them know bc they wouldn't be under sold.

I'm getting long winded so I'm going to rap this up. Long story short I dropped by the Chevy place and td a '15 Silverado Crew Cab 4wd 5.3L V8 that cycles between V4 and V8 depending on need. Same MPG as Tacoma. Remote start. Power driver seat. Black leather through out. Not any of that leather trim BS. Seats 6 grown men. MyLink touch srceen allstar Nav etc etc. Whole lot more towing cap for 36,9xx out the door.

I'm not bashing Tacomas or Tacoma lovers. Simply I've took from this forum now I want to give back. To each their own. Good LucK!

Gotta follow your heart. It is your money after all. Glad you found a truck you dig.

The tech that shuts down half the engine in the Chevy V8 is pretty cool. My 2014 Vette gets 34.7 MPG cruising at 75 MPH.

At 5'10", I don't have the same issues as you with room and I don't want or need a full sized truck.

You should have looked at Tundras. Just wait until you go to trade or sell that Chevy. Tacomas are definitely not for bigger folks especially if they need room for passengers. I have 2 brothers that would not fit well in one. At 6' I feel like I am close to the limit. I own one because 99.9% of the time it is just me or one passenger. Back seat has only been up once.

Word on the street is GM is working on cylinder deactivation that cuts it down to only two cylinders to increase MPG's. http://www.leftlanenews.com/new-gm-cylinder-deactivation-tech-could-be-ready-by-2020-89696.html

Tacomas are not for everybody...it's ok although I don't know why you felt the need to share. MAny of us did not go into the Chevy forums and explain the 100 reasons we would touch a GM

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
I have cylinder deactivation on my Honda Odyssey, its not recommended. The engine is so off balanced, Honda uses its speakers to cancel out the sound it makes. They also had to make specialized engine mounts to insure it didn't rock itself to pieces. Lastly, it causes the engine to burn up oil as the deactivated cylinder piston rings are not engaging properly.

The cherry on top is it doesn't make a noticeable difference in fuel millage...

I can totally understand not wanting a tacoma, but cannot at all understand buying a new chevy/gm full size. They have one of the lowest overall reliability rates of any auto and THE lowest reliability of full size pickups. Sure, they might be nice new but seems like they'll fall apart pretty quickly.

18-23 miles per recal? I guess that's not bad for a chevy...

Data can be skewed to say anything you want. Hell, Hilter in '38 was TIME magazine man of the year.

Most people on this site buy Tacomas because of their reputation for reliability and off road performance. GM offers neither.

Since you seem to be in the market to similar vehicles, you can also grab an AWD C Class Mercedes-Benz for around $40k. It comes with power leather seats, auto down/up windows, and better MPG.
