    Well it might help if they didn't weaken the shit out of it by removing half the metal to show off their name. I see so much armor and bumpers where the advertising and appearance is apparently more important than strength and durability.

    I wasn't looking for wiring, but being you do have a hitch, I'd be surprised if there wasn't any.

    FWIW, my old trailer wiring failed a bit ago and did weird things with the headlights and turn signals.

    Exactly the reason I have not purchased a skid plate myself. I see too many with a water jetted logo in a spot that needs to be solid.

    Quick question, I am looking at getting the ome Dakar rear leaf pack for my '96, however the only one I can find says its for '98-'04. Will it still work?

    No, my inderstanding is the leaf perches are not in the same position. I can't recall if there is a Dakar version available for 95-97, but I want to say there is. Have you gone to the ARB site to download the complete application guide?

    Oh yeah...

    At Cruiser Outfitters:
    OME CS046RA/B Rear Leaf Springs only fit post 1998 Xtra Cab and Double Cab models. All others require rear spring hanger relocation or CS019R/SB43 springs and bushings. Call for details.

    Yeah, I figured I would never even bother unless I destroy my stock one, but I generally don't bash up the truck. I wheel to get places, not to test limits.

    It settles down to 3" after a bit. They have the option to remove the 3rd leaf and that softens the ride and lowers it a bit. I did this for about a month as they were a bit high and stiff, then put the leaf back in as the newness wore off. They don't seem to sag and flatten out like the longer set does either. Mine still have a nice arch and carry a load just fine.

    Interdasting. Yes, saw the note about leaf removal.

    Now I am all focused on trying to figure out second gen leafs...right after I got my 01 dialed in right where I wanted it...it's up for sale.:(

    I've done more than a handful of 2nd gen lift installs, they all seem to have the same rear leaf pack afaik. Front coils is where the fun begins, lot's of choices there.

    Yeah, I'll probably just to Daks, which is fine for what I need, more load capacity and for towing...but for the fronts, exactly, I'm starting to research Kings and all that shit for the front, especially after I heard complaints about thunking and bottoming out on 885s and nitorchargers. Then I remembered OME is coming out with the BF51 very soon... I may just keep my powder dry until those are available.:spy:

    My brother (2012 dcsb) has the 885s with the 10mm top spacer, stock bumper and all that and his rides great.
    My friend (2006 dcsb) has the 886s with no spacer, ARB bumper and a winch. His does the clunks over bumps thing and rides stiff. I think he would be better off with the 887 coils (longer, softer, same amount of lift), but that's just idle speculation.

    Yeah I never understood that either and didn't really think it would be that much of a big deal until this happened. a simple fix would be to weld another 3/16" plate behind it after I bang it back out. I believe I am going to try to gusset it vertically in the large gaps first though.

    Sadly out on the east coast if you are wheeling to get places you are likely breaking a fuck ton of laws. And the places you can legally wheel at you don't need much more than a little more aggressive tires and that's pushing it. This is why I need to move out west.

    It's worse in Ga, its basically mud and then a few good trails but they get destroyed and can be nerve racking sometimes. Almost rolled it going thru some ruts :eek:

    Haha definitely made me feel better now that I have a new rack/pump and clean filter. I didn't realize how bad it actually was until I had the new one in.

    Yeah the trails in the NJ pine barrens are similar, lots of off camber hill climbs but very short. I do enjoy those types of trails too because getting tipsy gets my heart racing but you also have to deal with the sandy water that destroys everything. Rather have rocks over that shit.

    Windrock, URE, Gulches, Durhamtown are all good East Coast places to wheel and that's not going past TN. Then once you get past TN you've got all over Kentucky and Va. And all of these require more than just slightly more aggressive tires. If you can't find anything to wheel on the east coast, swap up who you wheel with. Or check and see if you're really wheeling and not just driving down slightly graveled roads ;)
