Have you reset your trip computer for just highway driving? Curious what you would get only on highway with your new tires.

That does kind of stink, but not a deal breaker for me. I'm sure for people who really want to, you could get an extra set of wheels, put some touring tires on it for street driving and it may increase it. I have also heard that you can buy and add the air dams that are on the sport model to try and increase it as well. All things that I am sure will wind up being a waste of money in the end for maybe an extra mile a gallon. 4x4 GPA has always sucked.

Most people are getting well into the 20's for highway driving and their engines are not even broken in yet. Naturally city driving/off roading will kill your overall MPG.

My mileage was consistent from the first mile to mile 37,500. Don't assume every truck is going to get a 25% increase in fuel mileage after 5k miles of use.

2016s have been getting as low as 14 with mixed driving, which is horrific.

Nice truck. I just passed to the local dealer and caught a glimpse of a 2016 in the tan color with a bunch of peeps all around it. Might have to stop in just out of curiosity. Interesting as I was looking through the OP I was thinking what kind of prius tires did they put on it? Then you punctured one in the desert! At least now its got some decent truck tires. Congrats

I got 16mpg towing on my 3rd gen with 4 guys in the truck. Get 22 mixed over a full tank. 24+ on 60mph on a flat ground.

The biggest MPG hit is when the truck isnt warmed up. Under 10 miles and you will get lower mpg.

That's great, unfortunately for people with 4x4, you have a 4x2, which always gets way better mileage.

I was reading the file with all the details about this truck. I want a midsize truck like this but what concerns me is that GVWR. The truck I want (DCSB TRD OR 4x4) is 5600 and the truck weighs 4480. That leaves me with 1120lbs of available cargo/passengers/fuel, etc. That means if I fill all 5 seats with passengers that each weigh 200lbs (just for an example), and have a full tank of gas, I basically have about 50-75 lbs of stuff we could bring before exceeding the GVWR. Also, the tongue weight of a trailer applies too. So if I maxed out the tongue weight of around 600lbs on a trailer, add myself as the driver, I have like 350-400lbs left for passengers/fuel/cargo. My main reason for this truck would be the ability to go hunting, camping, take jet skis to the lake, etc. If I can't actually haul any stuff after loading up my family, what good is it for?

I'm pretty sure the truck can handle passengers and a jet ski. From my understanding, and I could be totally wrong, I thought the towing capacity was in addition to the weight of the truck...as in the weight of the truck is not added to the total. That being said, my dad as a 2014 4 cyl 2x4 M/T that he has towed over 4K with it. Granted he doesn't do it long distances, it did it. He just couldn't go up hills at top speed.

GVWR includes the weight on the hitch, not total weight of trailer

Exactly why I sold my '13. Couldn't really handle towing my 5,000# toy hauler. If that is what you want to do, got get a 2500 or at least a 1500 with max payload rating.

If a midsize truck can tow 6800 lbs, you would think you could tow a couple jetskis and be ok to bring a few friends and fill the bed with gear/firewood/fuel canisters, etc. Didn't think such a thing would push the truck beyond its' limits.
