I have read that as well. The truck is supposed to perform better with the new trans and rear end ratio. But imo 159 hp pushing around a midsize truck just isn't enough. It may be to some, just not enough for me.

My land cruiser HAD 190 base hp, with 120% of the curb weight of the new taco. It's not fast but she luggs up mountains just fine. The Taco has never been speedy, but with current gas prices, and the efficiency they are getting with that 3.5L, I don't see it selling much.

Well I am new to the forum and new to owning a tacoma. Finally broke down and sold my f150 and bough a 2011 tacoma from charles barker this weekend. I was wondering if a 3inch lift would clear 33x12.50? and what would be a decent lift kit and a reasonable price? I had a 6inch Fabtech lift on my f150, but I have been reading some of the forums and it seems like its not that popular of a lift for the tacomas.

Welcome to TW Bobby. :D 3" will clear 33's with minimal trimming, if you plan on taking it off road plan to have the cab mount chopped. You've seen my truck, I have the cab mount chopped. Make sure you have the enough backspacing and offset if you plan on running 12.50's.

For a middle of the road kit, look at the OME kit with Dakar leafs and Light Racing UCA's. UCA's help to keep your alignment numbers where they should be. Skip the AAL, I started off with one and went to a full leaf pack and it's a night and day difference. You won't be happy with an AAL in the long run. The whole kit should run around 1500 for springs, shocks, leaf packs, and UCA's.

New to the Forum. Just bought a 2011 Tacoma TRD Sport myself... I run an event on the peninsula on the 3rd Saturday of every month (8-10am) called Cars and Coffee Williamsburg (locals see sig for FB info). While you'll find some of the hottest vehicles in the region at the event - Our motto of: "Bring What You're Proud Of" says it all regarding this Open to the Public breakfast cruise-in still growing each month here now in our 5th year. It would be awsome to find an entire lane dedicated to the Tacoma at our next event. The beauty of this particular event is that people with the same vehicles not only get to show off their modding handy work, but discuss future mods with others who've already made them. Thinking about a soft-top for your bed or already have your rig lifted and set up for off-road? Bring it on out on the 3rd Saturday and show/tell others how you accomplished it. Suggest if you know other Tacoma owners that you meet up somewhere locally and roll in together. Always a show stopper! See you in October - Welcome in advance! Questions? PM me.. C&C WMBG event coordinator

Bad time of the year for that right now, rather be sitting around a campfire than sitting around in a parking lot. Maybe we can rally some trucks for a winter showing.

I hear you on that. Was supposed to take these 2 knuckleheads backpacking this weekend but Wx looks like it's going to suck.

Finally got the differential breather mod done! A lot of you guys probably don't know this about me, but I developed a fear of flooding after last year. Decided to try to drive home from work in Downtown Portsmouth... in my Saturn Ion. It didn't work. This is why I bought the Tacoma and I figured I'd try to flood-proof it as much as possible without going all-out with a snorkel and whatever else.

If anyone is interested in a 2012 and up pelfreybilt front bumper let me know. I am considering selling mine. It's bare aluminum, never been mounted, has fog light cutouts and full upper hoops. I was thinking $1200. I can post pics if requested.

Wish this came up a couple months ago... and were $300. If the post I'm looking at is yours, those are the wheels I really wanted but settled for a set of FJ wheels because the price was right. Good luck with the sale!

Sam? Welcome to the group. I worked with Charles before he retired. This is an extremely active group, or was prior to me deploying in July. Tell Charles I said hello....
