    Hello Tacoma World!

I dunno how many people will follow along with this but I'm kind of doing this for myself to document the progress of this build. I have been looking for a Tacoma for a while - but waited until I saw the 2016's in person. I wasn't a huge fan so decided to use what money I will save by going 2nd gen. to build the truck I really want.

So a little about my vehicle history. I used to autocross quite a bit, which I will definitely get into again someday and recommend for anybody looking for cheap racing fun in a car. I've been a Subaru dude for a while; I had a 2011 WRX that I got up to about 300 WHP with bolt-ons and tuning which wasn't crazy but it was a lot of fun. Then decided I wanted something lightweight and RWD so I went with a 2013 BRZ that I didn't do too much to. Just went with a decent coilover setup, wheels & tires, exhaust, lights/cosmetic stuff. It was slow in the straights but damn it gripped.

Here is a couple pic's of it if you're interested:
    IMG_1892_zps99790282_06b534c67a0cf132b9e32787043c8022d5134bbf.jpg

    So onto the Taco...
I recently graduated college and got a new job that's been pretty great so far, except I'm driving probably 2,000 miles a month. I work for a mechanical contracting company so driving that many miles on (normally crappy) roads on coilovers in the brz was not a good time. Plus I love road tripping and am tired of borrowing other people's cars.

So I found this 2015 Tacoma TRD Offroad for sale in Fort Worth that basically had all the modifications that I would have done to it already on the truck.

    On the truck now:
    • ATC Bed Cap
    • Pelfreybilt Front Bumper
    • Pelfreybilt Rear Bumper
    • Bilstein 5100 shocks & AAL + 1" block in rear
    • Black Sport Grill
    • FJ Alloys
    • Magnaflow exhaust
I found the dude who traded the truck in for an FJ (explains the wheels) and he was super nice helping me figure out what was on here. That being said there are a lot of things that will be changing!

    On my list:
    • SCS Stealth 6 17x8.5 in Matte Gunmetal
    • 285/70/17 AT's... or maybe 295?
    • Frontrunner roof racks for cab and bed cap
    • Pelfreybilt rock sliders
    • Winch - unknown
    • CVT Mt. Shasta RTT
    • Various Bed Organization Nonsense
Here is how the truck looks right now.

That truck looks so good I just cursed out loud when I saw it. Jealous of the straight black - I am BSP.

I saw that and part of me wants to just jump on it... except I have no roof rack! Do they do group buys often? Or is this something I need to jump on?

Good choice! It was a lot of fun, I wish I could justify two cars right now because I would have kept it.

Did you ever have any problems out of it? I've heard of a few of them using oil pretty badly

No I personally didn't have any issues. I did try to use an aftermarket oil filter - which leaked. But stuck with the Subaru brand filters and never had an issue again. Not even on the track!

Yes they are! Thanks man. Those wheels were beautiful, just sold them this weekend though :( although they can basically fund my truck wheels, and maybe one of the roof racks. Hah

What do you do with a clean truck? Get it dirty again of course. ;) Just updated my first post with some photos that are at least not off my cellphone. Did not realize how hard it is to photograph a black vehicle. This will take some practice...
