    And I can't make a version of this thing to work with every topper in the world. This one will work with many toppers, just not Trent's.

    If somebody with a Leer can answer this question: What is the inside width of the part that sits on the side rails?

    Not sure how simple it would actually be, as it looks like the shape of the basket would have to be altered. or a mount with some bends and curves. i don't know. not my problem. my cargo management system went in just swell last night.

    I may be able to solve Trent's problem by sending him end plates that would allow a narrower overall width. That's the reason for asking the inside width of the Leer mounting platform.

    As far as developing a new product based off this one...not interested. I'm trying to reduce the inventory that I carry, hence the reason for the discontinuation of the CMS and the 1st version of the cargo basket.

    There won't be a redesign to the original, but I might make an end plate that will allow it to work with Leer toppers.

    Just a thought. If you plan on keeping the basket in the same location why not just cut some notches in the fiberglass shell where the basket will sit? Seems like there wouldn't be much material to remove and I would imagine the structural integrity of the topper will still be the same? Looks like the leers overlap the bedrails on both sides so It shouldn't effect it much.

    I'm prefacing this post by saying I'm certainly not taking sides in this debate but in the spirit of factual information for going forward ;

    Approx 4 1/2" , the side overhangs the bed rail on my cap by approx 3/4" , more at the bolting locations front and rear

    see below

    That's a non starter as the forward bolting location for the cap is what you would be cutting out

    Perhaps a simple dislaimer in the OP for people with caps to check their fitament prior to purchase would be the easiest solution to future problems

    Any words on the quality of the plasma cuts? Out of curiosity.

    Sometimes plasma isn't always perfect. It's not like laser or water jet.

    Our plasma table has a "sweet spot" in regards to thickness and quality of cut. It is a "high definition" plasma table, but the HD feature only comes into play with material 0.135" thick and above. Thinner than that, and it cuts in standard definition.

    Seems another solution might be to have the purchaser ship the product onto another buyer, maybe even a local buyer, to avoid shipping charges. Sell it at a slight discount to move the sale and have both parties split the loss. You can spend eternity assessing blame. The purchaser clearly did not check obvious fitment issues and the seller could have been clearer in warning about potential shell fitment issues. Time for each side to man up, accept their share of the blame and find a solution. Neither side will completely win or lose and both will move forward being more diligent in the future.

    NOOoooooo, cannot cut that. structural integrity would be compromised and you'd really notice when
    dismounting it from vehicle

    Are you going to manufacture something like this below the bed line without rails? Something smaller than the cargo management system? Something a 5 gallon gas tank would fit into? Maybe have two separate end pieces so it could mount up or down?
