Well I'd be using the Mobil 1 EP filter too. I wouldn't bother with the EP oil and then slap a regular Fram or Wix on there, lol.

Edit: I'm using the standard Mobil 1 oil & filter now, and going 7K between changes. but my driving habits put 7K right around January if I change my oil in September/October. It'd be nice if I could push it until March when things are warmer, since that concrete slab in my garage is awfully cold to lie on when it's 10 degrees out, lol.

I haven't ridden a Can Am but they were built off the same idea as a sled so yeah that sounds about right. That and using the throttle to swing the rear end around where you want it.

The chaps work great with like ultralight polypro underneath, but honestly I find I just don't need them at all with the vest. Gloves also. The gloves I bought are $250 heated gloves but they were bulky. With just the vest I can ride in all summer gear until 50F, then if it's below I will just use winter weight gloves which are less bulky than the heated gloves. And also warmer footwear. I'll ride like that until about 35, then I won't ride the bike anymore at all because the tires just don't get sticky enough.

I've ridden a Spyder and it's similar to how modern sleds ride. Rider forward sleds. If you compare to an older, non rider forward the sleds are many many times more effort to ride.

I need to get a spring/fall jacket. Right now I have a summer textile jacket that breathes really really well

I've used it on my old taco. Ran it most of the time I had my 1st gen. I usually ran it the full 15k miles. put about 75k miles on like that and the truck ran great when I sold it with 155,xxx mikes on it. They have a mobil 1 extended protection oil filter that's supposed to last 15k miles too. I ran that along with the oil and had no issues

My problem with running the oil that long is how dirty it gets. No matter what kind of oil you use it gets full of carbon.

Hm. I think I'll give it a try, if you had good luck with it. I'll keep an eye/ear on it and worst case scenario I'll just change them out early. I know that my 4.0 lets me know when it's ready for an oil change by ticking more loudly at an idle. But it'd be sweet to only have to change the oil when it was warm out, lol.

Supposedly the Mobil 1 EP filter is good for 15k worth of filtration, to go along with the oil. :notsure:

I'd at least change it every year at minimum. On the bikes it just turns into water

Yeah, I'd never go over a year on an oil change regardless of how many miles/hours I've got on the oil. Now that I've got the plow truck the Kubota typically only gets around 20-30 hours of use per year, but it still gets an oil change before winter. That way it's going into the most demanding season with fresh oil. Same with the Toyota and the plow truck; they get an oil change and fresh oil & air filters (the plow truck gets a fresh fuel filter too because they're $1.50 from Rock Auto) before it gets cold so that they're ready for winter.

To me, that sounds like the filter material is more porous so it doesn't clog up in 15k miles

    lol.
Probably. Although I'm sure Mobil 1 will tell you that they've got more surface area squeezed into the canister.
