OME up front, Dakar in the back, Elite front bumper, Warn winch, Tactical rear bumper with tire swing/jerry cans/hi lift, Revenge Fab. sliders, Tundra brakes, Camburg UCA's, Safari Snorkle, FJ TRD wheels, Lights, CB, Switches, skids, LED's... OH MY!
Update for current rules for the recall since it seems they change from time to time... at least as it pertains to my 2002 DC. Had my frame inspected back in approx. 2010 and it passed - received undercoating. Just had it inspected 2 weeks ago and there was a big hassle with everything at the dealership so I had to deal with Toyota Corp. directly and here is what they said...

My frame passed again. The undercoat was a one time thing so I can't get it again. It extended the warranty on my frame until May 31, 2017. I can get my frame inspected once a year until then. It either passes and they do nothing, or it fails and it gets replaced. Those are my options at this point.

Hope this helps clear things up for anyone else looking into it.

I dont think sooner than people start suing Toyota. 2005-2008 recall did not happen until class suits started. So for 2009+ folks this is most likely the same story. This time its going to be harder since NHTSA had ruled that rust is a failure of the owner to properly wash vehicle. (even so you can't wash any thing at -20F)
So 2010 trucks may never see frame replaced.

Actually they did not give a legal ruling - just an advisory. At Least in the following link. Do you have a specific Toyota Frame reference??

    GM Brake Lines ..

Just had my frame inspected. Dealer said it was one of the cleanest ones they've seen. Had the undercoating put on and was told that seeing I followed Toyotas recall procedures I would have some recourse in the future if it does rot out. I'm not so sure about that, does anyone have any info on that? I guess I'll have to call corporate. Also, it seems on the forum like there are a lot of people getting new frames vs. the undercoating. Doesn't seem like that's the case at my dealer. wouldn't the dealers want to do this job as its a ton of hours for them? I know it has to be justified to corporate but I feel they could find a hole if they banged hard enough. My dealer said they looked at over 100 frames and only replaced 10, is that about the average?

Ok Advisory, still this allowed GM to get away with brake lines rusting, and probably will let Toyota get away with frames.
If not, than its going to be very interesting how Toyota its going to spin this. Previous frame issues they blamed on Dana process, but Dana corp does not exists since 2008 so not sure who are they going to blame now.
I dont have any reference, I don't think anybody officially started chasing Toyota for 2009+ trucks. Atleast Not yet.
I am guessing 2009+ truck failures will become real issue in next couple months. First trucks to start failing inspections are MA, RI guys.

In Buffalo NY, That's what has me concerned, I didn't think that sounded right. I know they want those jobs so if it was even close I think they would be failing them and replacing frames. I should have declined the undercoating for now and had a second dealer look at it. Now do I take my chances or trade it in on a tundra? I like the truck and really don't wanna take on a payment right now but I also don't wanna be stuck with a truck that's worthless in 3 years.

Only 10 frames in Buffalo NY ? That s crazy.
Honestly Tundra frames are not that much better. But it still beats salvage right. I think that's up to you. My truck has frame replaced but its going to probably only last another 6-7 years before needs another frame. So I am thinking I may trade that fr something else. Not sure of something else but Nissan is really good with rust protection so there maybe Nissan in my Driveway pretty soon. I am going let South buy Toyotas. :)

That's just at the one dealership, there's 2 more larger dealers in the area. Not sure how many they've done. I have used a fluid film type product for 4 years, getting into all the frame openings and have been pretty good with washing the salt off throught the winter so maybe my frame is in good shape. I looked and banged around with a BFH and couldn't find anything. It just sucks not knowing if Toyota will actually do anything if it does rot 3 years down the road.

I Thought that all affected by the "recall" (if that's what we are calling it") when they get the inspection done and only coating - the frames are now covered for 15 more years ???

What year is your truck ?
Have you check inside the boxed section of the frame?
How about tail end of frame by the fuel tank?
Fluid film may have saved you, but I would not count your chickens yet, that mofo rusts from inside, out.

Just got the truck back today....feels really good! I only drove it for 5 miles, but feels stiff and could be my imagination, but brakes feel better too (new lines, new fluid, etc).

I picked it up after 5pm. I didn't talk to a Service Writer but checked out with the lady at the counter (?). I had to be THAT girl (LOL) and ask them " Is there a warranty on the work?" She looked at me kinda funny.... and I said...."Say for instance, 2 weeks from now something comes loose.... or....worse case scenario, a brake line pops off and I have an accident?" In walks a 'Service Manager' whom I talked to...and he talked to someone else.... He said there's a 1 year warranty unlimited mileage on the work.
But.....nothing in writing..... and gave me his business card. ;) It's on a case-by-case scenario (he says). Of course it is.... So, I'm hoping I never have to TEST this 'word-of-mouth 1 year warranty.

CYA...... I've worked on machinery long enough to know...shit really can and does happen. ;) CYA....

Did anybody check their wheel bearings after the swap?
I have a strange feeling like my CV axles are not tighten to spec. Tuck feels like driving on butter and every crevice on the road is trying to pull it.

Just picked up the truck this morning. Drives great, no more squeaking, some vibrations I had are gone. Brakes were a little spongy when I first picked it up but after driving it for a few miles felt like before the swap. I gave them the 4 new struts, original Bilsteins. Apparently there are washers and rubber bushings that need to be replaced on the rears when installing that didn't come with the struts, Cost me $70. They also replaced the serpentine belt I gave them. The old one was in rough shape and I was planning on changing it anyhow. I'm a happy camper. :yay:

Is it just me, or does it seem that Toyota slowly includes more years to it?

So far, all the Tacomas from 95.5 -2008 had their frame replaced
I think Tundra got their 2000-2003 recall done too.
Its going to be hard to get Toyota to recall anything beyond of 2008 because Dana Corporation does not exists beyond that point. Which means all the money spend would be on Toyota. So Chances of 2009+ recall are slim . Considering the amount of money Toyota lost on 95-2008 Tacomas its even crazy to think they still producing them. Funny thing I saw a video of 2016 Toyota frame and its exactly liek ours. Not sure if they did that on purpose in case they need frames for 2009+ trucks.
It will be interesting to see how this works out.

But, The Frames are still being made elsewhere. Dana was sued for inferior (i.e. not to Toyota's Specs) Frames. The New Supplier my adhere to Toyota's specs. IF the Frames are faulty Toyota can go after the MFG. If the Specs are wrong - then it's Toyota's nickel. Per unconfirmed info.(from my Deale,r FWIW), Toyota changed some things after they left Dana - and a few years later (2013?) to include minor mechanical changes (inter frame connections, Drain/tooling hole covers, etc.). One way or the other Toyota still needs to stand behind mfg defects as the seller of the end product - or face lost sales and possible lawsuits.

2009+ Frame issues are currently not in Toyota's frying pan - yet. But then again When Toyota started the first frame recall it did not cover all the way to 2009.
