This is my 4th brand new Toyota - first three were 4Runners. 2000, 2008 and 2013 (wife's car). Tacoma is not as refined of an experience as the new 2013 4Runner, but I fully realized that it's a truck. You want to see real problems, buy a GM vehicle. I had a brand new Jeep TJ Sport that lost its transmission at 19K miles, *mechanical* door locks failed after 1st year. After all of that was fixed it was making a loud metallic banging sound every time I turned left, I mean LOUD like a drive shaft snapping! Gave up on it after two years traded for a 4Runner and not likely to buy anything other than Toyota for a while. Wife's Nissan Pathfinder was also a somewhat disappointing experience.

All of these issues stem from either using the truck as it was not intended, IE excessive offroad abuse, as well as not keeping up on maintenance and cleanliness. Guess what, if you go through water/mud/salt/ w/e, and don't clean it off afterwords, you're frame is gonna rust. Most of people with rusty frame issues were due to lack of upkeep and/or extreme environments. 99% of the issues when they occur are covered under warranty or there is already a TSB out for it. Ignorance is not an excuse. I spent an entire deployment researching everything I could about my truck that I'd bought 2 months prior to deployment, and came back to a giant stack of boxes of random crap I'd ordered to ensure I didn't have most of these problems.

In the end, it all comes down to this- You can bitch and moan about how horrible your truck is, but at the end of the day, you are sure as fuck not trading it in.

Our dealer takes a copy of your drivers license, gives you the keys and says see ya! Guess there are some perks from living in the country and buying a few vehicles from the same dealer.

    Subtle, yet effective.

I've had a 2015 for 2 months. My keys hit my leg when they are in the ignition. And dat ticking noise...oy vey. It does sort of sound like a bored vaccum cleaner most of the time. At least my 01 3.4 5 speed sounded and felt like it was doing something. But I needed a reliable DCLB, and the 4.0 is pretty peppy when you need it, and I prefer quiet over douchy loud anyway. Haven't had a chance to tow yet, sure it will be fine for what I need, because I went ahead and figured that out ahead of time before committing to a purchase by doing some research and several test drives. Ordering a Relentless tailgate reinforcement next to address that known, decade-old issue.

I hope I don't have to kill myself or anything.

Save for the tail gate and battery location, none of that is exclusive to Toyota. I've had the displeasure of owning a late model GM pickup and I drive a late model Ford regularly. Both have had way more issues than you ever see even among the squeaky wheels here on TW.

Other then the fact my wife can't reach over the centre console while we're driving to.....never mind. I love my 2015 Tacoma but I wasn't expecting much from a truck with 10 year old technology. I'm really pissed off that I can't tow 6000lbs with my Prius and that I can't make phone calls with my digital camera.

I had a good laugh when I first saw wood dash accents and leather in a pickup truck...
