No, no....FJ T case, lock the front ADD in the diff, then manual locking hubs. Pau. No unnessairy wear on the CV's, gas mileage of a prerunner, etc...

zero electronics for 4WD. ABS still work, so AMTRACK still gonna work

edit: and thanks for the additional cross bars. now i get like 12 on there. can carry way more than those front runner guys:rasta:

I'm still lost...so the manual hubs would only be to save the cv boots...since the diff is still open?

Mm, I think I get it for manual hubs, you permenantly engage the ADD.

ah, it happens when you cross the date line sometimes.

Initial problems with installing the FJ T case. Gotta hook up a DPDT switch to activate the front diff ADD. So, slap it in 4wd, then use the DPDT switch for front ADD. With this, you still have an electronic part that could fail. Also, your front axles are still spinning full time.

With the manual locking hubs, you can permanently lock the front ADD (in the clam shell) and disconnect that wire harness. Now to go 4wd, FJ t-case slap it in 4wd, lock the hubs. No ADD actuators or electronics to mess around with. Follow?

Also, spoke to the dudes at top notch today. Still working out a few small details with the dust seals for the front hub bearing. They have a few options on using a custom chromoly axle with OEM CV parts, or using all OEM then milling the outer axle for splines vice threads. Hopefully the cost comes down a bit with the different options. Thing i was worried about is busting a front axle, then having to wait for a custom fabbed one to replace it.

Yea.. but at least with the girlfriend, you may still get a "little" every now and again..

As far as the test drive, I'm not sure that will pan out. Way too much truck for someone with some dollars to spend, but only needs it to put some surf boards on.. Husbands lifted HD Ram is too hard to go surfing with... Call me crazy, but I would rather it gone sooner than later. The T4R not gonna come in till late Nov/Dec, and if I sell soon, family will need to figure out 1 car, but still, one less thing to worry about.. again. worse case senario, the CRV goes up in Nov.. One should sell.. hopefully......

Sliders on order.. I buy beers if it pushes the order back by a couple days.. :anonymous:
    hopefully not though...

when's the next Peacock Flats trip.. lol...

What kinda pushed me over the edge was when I popped into Maui and asked them if they would even be willing.. He looked at me with a smirk, and said, "yea... but it would be expensive"... speaking of which, I'll bring my truck in tomorrow to get the new hose run..

Like I said earlier.. main trail only for at least a little while.. lol...

    Hello all;
I'm the Race Director for a Trail Race taking place October 17, 2015. I wanted to make our friends in the 4WD community know that there will be over 100 runners on the roads and trails spanning from Dillingham air field to the Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station to Peacock Flats. There are two distances -- 50 and 100 kilometers, and we'll have runners out there from 6am until 2am that night.
This race has been held every October since 2008, but we've noticed a huge uptick in 'scary moments' over the last couple of years as this area gains more attention and traffic. If you must travel up to the Peacock/Kuaokala/Kealia area on October 17th, I'd like to kindly request your kokua by slowing down, especially around blind corners.
You can get more information about the race at PeacockUltra dot com or at www dot Run dot Beer.
I probably won't check this post until next year, so if you'd like more information, please feel free to contact me. My name is Rob, and my email address is staminarace at outlook dot com.
