I was noticing this morning with my Hankook MT's on how little splash up I was getting on the puddles today. I drive all back roads into work and the little SUV in front of me would go though a puddle and it would make the water fly up in the air and when I went through the puddle it would not. Only once when it was a real deep puddle would it do it. I guess with the big deep new tread it would cut through rather than splash.

 

I notice that my AT20's throw a lot more water than the Duratracs do. Deeper grooves and more siping give the water more places to evacuate to.
That's part of why the old style-MT's like Super Swampers are so alarming in the rain; they've got big tread blocks with no siping to help channel the water out, so they tend to float.

 

My Hankook's don't have any siping either but they have small tread blocks. I am really surprised how good they do in the rain. Better than my Duratracs were

I'm really impressed with my Mich. AT2's in the rain. I know the MS2 is supposed to be better for rain and snow, but man, I can't see how they could possibly be much better in the rain. I couldn't make them hydroplane and I tried.

 

My km2 do better than the km1 for sure. Ever see the people "usually in a Cherokee" who run BaJa claws backwards. Can you imagine hitting a puddle at highway speed.

I did but they balanced them like shit and I have been riding on my MT's? Can't complain too bad mounting and balancing were free. I took all the weights off and need to get them rebalanced. I know I'm lazy

 

You overlanding aren't you? Hope you brought an anchor for you air mattress and maybe an outboard.

The good news for camping is with all this rain it's gonna bring in real cold weather. So it will not only be wet, but also cold. Wait, I think I had it screwed up... I mean bad. Bad news for camping.
