Is it just me or does the 2016 Tacoma Long Bed seem longer than the previous generation? I'm talking total truck length, not just the bed. I haven't got a chance to compare the two side by side. Maybe it just seems that way because the front end is more beefed up now. The length of the long bed 16 (entire truck) seems on par with the F150 SC w/ 5.5 bed.

Can you not still order a 15? They are still makoing them as I understand. I feel like the 16 roll out may not be till super late this year. Plus 15s are super cheap now.

I don't know this for sure, but I think Ford is pushing the 2015's right now because they were late coming out. When I was at the River Rouge plant last week, they were still building 2015's on the line and pushing out a lot of trucks per day. One of the tour guides pointed out five 2016's being built on the line. The 2016's were only being built for testing and not for sale. That may answer why the dealers are hesitant to order you a 2016. They're not building them yet. Don't know when they're going to switch over. I'm really considering an F150. The wife said if I want to trade or sell the Tacoma, go for it. The only problem will be a full size won't fit in my garage and I really like keeping my vehicles in the garage. I don't know, I'm really conflicted, love the Tacoma, and don't really "need" a full size, but man they are nice.

This is the impression I'm getting. The 2016s were supposed to be out in lots by November, but now it seems like they could be pushing it till January or later.

Which, who cares? The only difference between the models I know of is the 2016 will have a Limited trim option and the Special Edition with some crazy paint and interior colors.

I'd be pushing for a 2015 order myself. Kind of hard to go for a 16 when it means stepping over $13k off MSRP and potentially 0% 72mo financing from Ford for a 15.

Now that I think about it why am I on here and not at my local dealer?

The order window for 2015s is closed, from what I understand. That doesn't mean the 2016 can be ordered yet (I don't believe it can). They probably just don't want to give a price on something they can't even order yet. IMO, give them some time to get '15s cleared out and then try again. You should be able to get invoice pricing minus rebates pretty easy on a custom order at a Ford dealer.

For instance - when I was debating ordering a 2014 F150 last year, the latest I could do it was early August.

I can't speak about the 2015 order window, all I know is the 2015's were still being built at "The Rouge" last week and they were rolling a bunch of them off the assembly line every day. As far as last year, I think the reason the orders stopped earlier was because they had to shut the plant down and basically gut the plant and retool for the aluminum body 15's. They showed a video of that during the tour I took. There had to be hundreds of 15's in the lots around the plant waiting to be trucked out for delivery.

    http://www.torquenews.com/106/6-new-features-2016-ford-f150

Also there are people on F150 forun with 2016 ordered. I also emailed another dealership and they said they can place order for 2016 (just havent received reply with quote, i get the feeling that they are heaitant because the price list is available online). The other dealership, they are saying the procing is not available but thats a lie because it is.

Just thought i I would add a little tidbit of info from work yesterday. I had been getting several F150 in that had really bad door alignment issues that could not be rectified with normal adjustments i voiced my concerns to a regional rep and yesterday got a call from a big boss in kansas inquiring about the issues we have encountered.
Long story short the issues i brought up are going to be watched for on the assembly line going forward which made me feel just a little better about Fords concerns with F150 quality going forward.

Yup, just mod it. I'm kind of glad though I didn't get the TRD Offroad. Once I get the ARB locker installed I can avoid all the electronic crapola anyways.

I want a full size but want a manual transmission more. I cant believe what a sad state or the world we are in when most pickup trucks cant even be had with a manual. Sad, sad, sad...

Meh, mechanical components can have flaws too. Manual locking hubs suck if you find some mud you were not expecting. 4WD on the floor causes issues as well if you lend your truck out to a friend and they don't understand what 4Lo is. At least the electronic system will warn them off.

Thanks but I'll have automatic and electronic switch 4x4.

I have zero desire to row through the gears in a pickup truck.

Let's keep relating a Tacoma to a Corvette or SRT anything. Makes sense :D.

Sports cars deserve a manual trans. Pickups need the slush box.
