Who else made significant upgrades to their trucks? Ford didn't change their transmission yet I think, Ram is the same, and the GM 1/2 ton is the same (maybe transmission change). I think it's between the Tacoma and the diesel Colorado. Nissan won't win unless that Titan is a lot more than what I see on paper.

Diesel Colorado not on the list. Can't believe the "Jeep" (Fiat) Renegade made it, though.

"Likewise, the nominees for Truck/Utility of the Year include the Ford Edge, Honda HR-V, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Renegade, Kia Sorento, Lexus RX, Mazda CX-3, Nissan Titan XD, Tesla Model X, Toyota Tacoma and Volvo XC90."

So....basically, there is no truck segment then?

Yeah, sorry. I just read the list after making that post. Seems funny the Diesel Colorado doesn't get in because the Ram Ecodiesel basically won for it's craptastic Diesel engine. If they start giving that award away to the CUV's you will find me even less likely to car about that award. If that's even possible at this point.

I don't think the diesel Colly is available to be judged yet. I'm also betting that this Volkswagen fiasco is making EVERY diesel engine maker double-check everything.

I'm just saying that is somewhat of a weird segment to award.

Didn't think about that angle...lol. That also really put the kibash on Toyota ever bringing it here....

Agreed. Ford Edge? Fiat Renegade? The only real trucks are the Nissan and the Taco!

Exactly. I'd almost rather the Tacoma wasn't included with those...lol

Yup. I think a bunch of companies are re examining their diesels just to make sure they are compliant. Not to mention how this looks to the average consumer. All they see is that Diesels are in the news because they suck for the environment, whether it's true or not.

This is my theory too. No ground up redesign because they are still swimming in litigation and fees from the frame recalls. Seatbelt Mike always seems like he really doesn't want to be at any of these press things lol. I may test a 2016 again but my first drive left a lot to be desired. Almost to the point where the slow acceleration could become a safety issue when pulling out into traffic.

For those concerned about the grille, don't be.
I actually liked it when i saw it today at the dealership.
It is a gun-metal color. Dark grey, gives it a rugged look, i dig it. Makes sense on a OR trim. I have noticed that lot of the online pics didnt capture the real color of the grille, hope this is better.

It's not the finish of the grill I don't like, it's the grill itself (and yes, I've seen it in person). It's a little too busy, a little to gaudy. I like the grill on the Limited a little better but it still doesn't quite do it. I'm sure there will be a plethora of aftermarket options though.

I am in the camp that thinks it looks better in person. It will become normal when you start to see thousands on the road over the coming years.

I'm the opposite. I've seen it in person and still don't like the grill. If I pull the trigger on a 2016, I will definitely install a 3rd party grill. Orrrrrrrr, derp it.

I'm excited for @HomerTaco to work his magic. Others as well. Relentless should have something awesome for the bumpers. Once we start seeing modded parts that fix the initial shock and awe, more people will come around.
