I agree with Kiffin possibly being on his way out. It's a shame, because I feel if Kiffin could get the correct personnel on the team, to fit his style of offense, the SEC may be changed. I just don't think he will be there long enough to get the correct type of recruits in.

I wouldn't want the personnel that Kiffin would need for his style of offense. I miss the days of possession, methodical, smashmouth, power fb..I prefer "game-manager's" bc they don't lose the damn games bc of shitty decisions based off bad, high-flying, cute, spread, hurry-up offensive schemes. Aint saying I want a bielema type of offense, but I don't care for the flashy crap. The posterboards for play calling is really over the top, too much like auburn and oregon. If those teams can't play fast, they can't play at all...pathetic.

I agree, I suppose I should have said that this way: Kiffins offense wont be as potent, without that style of player. It wont be as effective.

So basically, we are getting watered down results. Guess its a good thing he isn't making that much money.

I think Lane is somehow going to get another shot at the head job at a major conference school regardless if he gets fired or leaves on his own will. His name keeps popping up for the Illinois job but I don't see him taking it. Illinois is a perennial Big 10 cellar-dweller. He would be better off staying the OC at Bama and holding out for something better. I bet he gets a shot at the South Carolina job.I have seen him possibly going to Miami before this season but I think the 3-0 start will keep Al Golden there another year.

Oh he's still raking in cash. USC still has to pay him 3.8 Mil this year according to his buyout contract. Add that to his Bama salary and hes making more than most head coaches.

I think he is around the 600K range. But that is all Bama is responsible for....lol. Compared to OC's in the league, that is probably hovering around the 50% range, right?

I really wish we could just have McElwain back....dammit.

Yeah I think its around 6-700K before bonuses. Compared to Kirby whose making 1.5 before bonuses. Thats whats so hard about football at both the college and pro level. As soon as a team is good they get all their assistants poached.

That style doesn't work any more and Saban knows it. He complained about it when he couldn't stop it so now he is trying to switch over to it. There is a reason aggy and mizzou have been so successful in the sec when they were both perennial bottom dwellers in the big 12.

The thing I actually like about Kiffin, is I feel like he acts as a buffer between Saban who is a "Coach's coach", and Kiffin is more of a "Player's coach". He (Kiffin) is good at recruiting and keeping players happy. Probably why Derrick Henry stayed.

You're right he's supposed to be one of the recruiters in the country. Although when you have a USC or Bama Visor on makes it a little easier for him. And Tennessee is also a very good program. I would love for him to go to a school without a rich football history and see if he can really make an impact. Thats why I don't think he takes the Illinois job.

About every UGA fan I know says what I've said that if we don't win then it's still the same ole Richt coached team that can't win the big ones. That's why it's big from our side.

Of course with the loss to Ole Miss downplayed it some. I was hoping both teams to be undefeated coming in to make it a bigger game. Also to keep from facing Saban after a loss. I figure yall will be a lot more motivated with the loss.

And I do also feel a bit of a confidence that we haven't had in a while which is also part of why this is a big one for us, at least to me to help make us legit.

I don't know about that..Mizzou had the luxury of playing in the very watered-down East division, and got bitch slapped both times it made it to the SEC champ game.

Aggies success was 90% Manziel, and even with a heisman qb, they still couldn't clinch the West.

It didn't help that TAMU's defense was about as porous as swiss cheese.

I still like pro style smash mouth football myself. Run the ball, throw off from the run, control the clock and help keep the defense rested while keeping the opposing offense off the field. AKA grown man football.

Has anyone done a study on whether all of these new defensive penalties that have been created in the name of "safety" are actually effective? I feel like there are just as many concussions and spinal injuries as before....but would need to see the data.

There definitely seems to be more confidence in and from this UGA team. There isn't a signature win this season, considering SCs woes. It was nice to hang 50+ on spurrier for the first time in school history, but SC isn't what they were a couple years ago.

That said, I think more people believe in this year's team than any team since probably 2007ish. A RB who has yet to be stopped, a tenacious pass rush, decent defensive backfield, great O line, and a QB who has completed 94% of his passes over the last 2 games. Hard to argue with that.

I do think it'll be a defensive battle. Bama's front 7 is great, but I'm curious to see how the handle the constant fresh legs in the backfield for UGA. I know it's Bama and they have depth at every position, but, there's a reason Chubb averages over 8 ypc in his career, and Michel is at 7.something.

If the Wolfpack (Carter, Jenkins, Floyd, and, to a degree, Bellamy) can get pressure on Coker, I think he'll start seeing ghosts and make some bad decisions. Hang the ball up and Mauger et al will make you pay.

And Alabama doesn't play very well from behind. They usually are never down by more than a touchdown ever. But if UGA can put up some points quick it will force Bama to stretch our their offense which could lead to mistakes.

I think Bama is sportin' like 7 or 8 bad.ass. defensive linemen, so I'm not sure the fresh legs thing will be as effective on Bama as it would other teams. If you watched that OM game, OM was gassed, noticeably. Bama was ready for the 5th quarter...lol

This is where Mckenzie could come up huge. Richt said "there's a good chance he'll be playing", but didn't rule out a possibility of at least a missed start or a being suspended for a quarter or a half. If the D can force some punts, McKenzie always seems to have the ability to bust a quick score. Get them down by a couple TDs and that will force Coker to throw the ball and not let Henry run all over us.
