I've heard nothing but praise for the bilstein 5100's. Just wondering what justifies payin double for another lift when the billies have such a good reputation? I'm not a hard core offroader, just casual wheeling/camping/ back roads...so is there any reason for me to go with one of the big 3 instead?

ICON, Fox, and King's are actual coilovers. As 5100's are not. 2 totally different entities.

Simply a money saver for a "decent" lift...... Not in any way comparable to the big boys..... It's just an upside down vesrion of a spacer, and revalved

I dont have a nagging wife, and my wallet always has a little holiday weight on it, so neither of those are big factors. But since there seems to be no huge reason I dont see the reason to pony up the extra dough since I'm not a big time offroader

What's your thoughts on the 5100s vs the 6112's?

I have Billie because I can't afford the big boys. I want king or fox coilovers but got my Bilstein set up for cheap and won't be able to afford the big boys until after college probably. I figure that if anything goes wrong with them, I'll work to replace them with something better but for now I'm good. I have stock coils and UCAs. Getting fox like I want will mean another 2500 bucks after new UCAs.

Billies are very capable for the price.

    Bilstein 5100's ~$200 / true full coilovers ~$1300-2000 + UCA's.
The 5100's are great to get a decent lift that's better than a spacer, but not as capable or as well built as a coilover. The 5100's are also a "strut" with the coil mounted over it so it is a "coil over strut" kinda deal but not a real adjustable coilover which can be rebuilt and re-valved

Sure did. I like Billies: for the money, it's a great lift. If you want something better, you're going to pay for it and it'll be worth it. I had 5100s previously and loved them... until I upgraded to Icon. Night and day difference for sure, but nothing against the Billies. They are at a different price point for a reason.
