 More bs Buddy? First, there is no room to bounce in there. 2nd, it was zip tied in place. Could not bounce.

And yeah, my winch was soooo goood, it bent the backing plate on my elite bumper too. Poor design on the bumper actually. Wait! Maybe it was fat frank when I pulled him up poughkeepsie. That was when that backing plate bent. :smack:

    What haven’t I changed?
The Comeup winch in the GB is probably the winch I would get if I didn't already have a Warn. If tradition holds, the Superwinch sale should be coming up soon too. Another brand you could look at is Engo. @JLink has one and snapped the synthetic line twice trying to pull him out of a ditch last winter, and afterwards they chalked it up to a manufacturing defect and replaced the line under warranty.

Nah the bumper would have bent eventually. 3/16'' across the two frame horns just isn't enough at all.

What? I distinctly remember seeing the solenoid totally loose when i looked at it.

You saw it after I removed the grill. We were taking the bumper off the truck to repair Tim's fuck up. The zip ties were removed so it would come away with the winch/bumper.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
13 is pretty low, that's like where my truck was with a busted head and stuck caliper. What are you using to calculate MPG?

My week has been decent. Les Schwab readjusted my alignment to straighten the steering wheel and it is holding an alignment like a pro after changing the rack guide. My classes are all pretty interesting and the homework load is minimal right now. I think the truck is out of its rebellious teen phase now that it's 20 years old.

    How's the house?

What would you guys consider as a minimum of mods to be able to take a 2nd gen. run something like Shoshone lake? I have a plan in my head but thought I'd bounce some ideas off you guys first. Probably won't be doing anything much more difficult than that with it, I'll be building another jeep for crawling.
Planning on 3" of lift with 285s
    Sliders, front and rear bumpers.
Some additional skids, not sure which are most needed.

Definitely front and mid skid. I use all my skids on Shoshone, including the rear diff skid. That trail just keeps getting rougher too.

It is getting rough, erosion has definitely made the drop down to the lake worse. Maybe Shoshone is a bad example of what I'd like to be able to do with it. Mainly just want to be able to do some of the moderately difficult trails around the area. Since our family has a house down by Fairplay/buena vista that is where we end up the most. There are some really fun trails down there with amazing things to see.

Last summer was the last time I've been in there. I actually followed a really nice 2nd gen and 4 runner in that day.

I agree with Marc, I have a 2" lift with rock sliders and I've done a lot of trails in the wind river range. Only time I used my sliders was in Moab when I intentionally hit a rock just to see how they worked. I have however smacked my rear diff a few times on the trails in the winds. With good driving you really won't need to do a lot to it.

Yep, out here in Wyoming most of the trails just require a good off road tire (I found an aggressive AT is a great trade off) and a good line or an experienced spotter. I have hit my slider a few times and it's generally snow wheeling when you can't see how big of a drop is behind a rock. I would say sliders and skids for Shoshone for access cab and up, you might not need them but if a tire slips off a rock it's pretty cheap insurance. Experience is everything. If you drive a stick and you can't gentle apply power then you are going to have a hard time.

So I think I am going to pull the trigger on the shock kit first, then come black friday jump on winches as smittybuilt normally kicks out some deals. The snow doesn't get bad until after christmas anyways.

Do you have to remove the stock mounting location shock frameware to run the BAMF kit Gage? If you do just know it can suck major balls getting the rivets out. Don't dismiss the idea of just getting a good shock for the stock location. There is more fab and effort into shock relocation than you think... It took cbi a day and a half to get mine mounted and cycled so it worked correctly. Granted its not the same kit but it will still require a bit of effort.

I am still debating it. I am going to give addicted a call tomorrow and see if they can knock out the install for a decent price.

I'd expect a few hundred bucks. Thats definitely a good call to call ahead for a quote.

This is a recent shot of my skids that I took off last week. They have lots of experience... Some of the best money spent on the truck. I need to work on better lines.

Yeah, if it seems like a lot I will probably hold off until tax season. I found out an old army bud is getting married in December so I am going to need to be financially comfortable to fly out to South Carolina as well.
