Wow thanks for that. It will be fine for me. I'm about 5'10 and so is my wife. Are you around the same height?

Cool. Another question... can a slim adult (my sister in law) fit in between the car seats for an occasional trip to the mountains. Or is that reaching? Hahaha I think I know the answer.

Your pushing it now! Might be too tight. In that picture there is around 10" between the seat back and the armrests on the child seat.

I have a 5 year and 6 year old that sit in forward facing car seats and fits fine in 2nd generation. My six year old sits behind me and I have the seat back quite a bit (6'1" tall). Plenty of room. Third generation actually has a touch more room so wouldn't sweat the car seat thing.

I fit one back facing car seat and two foward facing car seats in my 14 4 door tacoma. it is a little aggrevating getting the actual seats hooked in. but not to bad.

'13 2nd Gen dcsb: Rear facing convertible is behind driver side. I'm 6' and I have enough room. There isn't any wiggle room between the infant car seat and my seat back. It took a little research and measuring to make sure we bought a seat that wasn't over-sized. I'm completely comfortable for traveling. The one catch is I have to flip my seat up a bit so I can remove the baby carrier.

We had a Safety 1st LeMans 65 car seat for the toddler before he graduated to a booster. Fitment was never a problem. My wife is 5'2" and the toddler has plenty of room behind her. When we switch driving duties he's still fine. My son is 4 1/2 and in the 90th percentile for height, so he's no small kid. Pics show the gap when passenger seat is adjusted for me (6') to sit up front.

As mentioned before, the '16 model has a few more inches in overall length so you'll definitely be fine as long as you do a little research online before purchasing seats.

Also, and I did this, take your car seats for test drives, buckle them in & your kids and everyone ride along to check for overall comfort. I did this for every truck I tried. I had my eye on an extended cab F150. I expected the F150 back seat to be more roomy. I was surprised to find the Tacoma was a better fit for car seats. The rear seat backs in the F150 are like dining room chairs; they go straight up. Any car seat you install is going to be pushed forward towards the front seats. My son's ankles were wedged between the lower rear seat cushion and the front seat. Not only was this uncomfortable for him, it was also a hazard if we ever suffered a collision. I was leaning toward the F150 for perceived rear seat space, but ultimately went with the Tacoma because the back seat was more comfortable and fit our needs.

Lastly, I added a Defender rack with KB Voodoo bars above my bed to carry diaper bags, strollers, backpacks, pillows and all the other stuff that comes along with kids while keeping my bed free for bikes, kayaks, camping gear, coolers, etc.

Oh man that's pushing it. My 5'2" wife can't fit between the seats. I doubt a kid over age 8 could fit between them either.

Well, yeah, I mean if you happen to be 7'6" then yeah, there's no rear room. How tall are you? I'm 6' and we're all fine in our dc.

I've managed three boosters in the back for my son and his friends, but there's absolutely no wiggle room.

That's not bad at all. Is the passenger seat adjusted for your wife so she has room to move up there as well

It's adjusted in the pic for me to sit in the passenger seat.

Oh, I found pics from test drives too. First is a pic of a '12 dc Off Road. This pic features the old Safety 1st car seat. The passenger seat is pushed all the way back to its farthest setting so the 270lb salesman "Carlos" could fit.

Lastly, here's the truck I went to buy before driving the Taco that I brought home. I still think I would've gotten it if A) it wasn't so LONG and B) it didn't look & feel like such an old man car inside.

You made the right choice going with the taco. Imo the fords have gotten only uglier since 2008

I agree. I had a regular cab '04 F150. It was perfect, inside & out. It was totaled in December. I was trying to hold out for the new Canyons. it took me awhile to warm to the last gen F150. The new ones are dog ugly.

I am 6'7. I fit beautifully and had no intentions to taxi adults when I purchased, so I don't really need adult room. I figure I will need more space when my kids are 10.

As of today, my daughter is 2 months old, so I have a bit. image.jpg

Do any of you have a suggestion for something to put under the car seats so that they don't dent over time?

The seat underneath? That's not really an issue, but you could try some closed cell foam.
