I need to replace my u joints and would like to go with spicers but can not find them anywhere. Called 4wheelparts and guy said they don't show part number for my 06 dc 4X4. Dealer wants $80 a piece!! Wtf? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Call Spicer and get the correct part numbers. Be sure to have the part number off your drive shaft. Then call San Diego Friction products. I got a carrier bearing for $80 ($280 at dealer) and u-joints for $20 each ($100 at dealer).

Called spicer today but they were closed. I will try back in the morning. How hard was it to change your carrier bearing. I guess I should do it while I have the drive shaft off. Thanks for the reply man.

Definitely do the CB while you have the shaft off.

FYI the u joints on my 4x4 rear shaft are

    1.063 X 1.063 Inch bearing caps

    3.620 X 3.620 bodies.

should be able to pruze spicers site n figure out the parts you need

Get the u joints on Amazon.

5-153x for the front two at 17 a piece, and 5-1330-1x for the rears at 25 and change a piece. They fit even if amazon says they don't.

There are some threads somewhere on here that have all the u joint part numbers, but the info is scattered.

How many miles are on yours? If you grease them semi regularly and don't keep them submerged they will last a long time. My back ones have 112k. I changed the fronts because the skids would make it a pain to do trail repairs on them, but they were kept as spares as they are still tight.

I would, its easy. Just need a puller and good vise to hold everything. When you call spicer get the yoke nut. Its should be replaced when you take off the old one.

    This video helped me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JurluoSxJHI

Thanks all for the quick replies. Talked to a guy at spicer and after giving him the number off of my driveshaft like SoCal Hillbilly suggested he gave me a part number (5-1330-1x) and I will be ordering from Amazon today. This site is hands down a life saver. Thanks again.

I have done some research and as far as I can tell these are what the truck came with. I am replacing all 3 on my driveshaft at 128,000 miles. If you try to get these from the dealer they are $80 a piece. $25 on Amazon like Hartford mentioned.

Some of you guys dont have any grease Zerks . If I was ordering a factory universal joint from the aftermarket , try and be sure you get Zerks for your new u-joints .

Read what Spicer has to say about greasing your driveline

What about your front drive shaft? Might as well do that one too.

I went with non-grease able ujoints this time, just tired of dealing with it. I havent had much issue in the past.

Its interesting how Toyota says service your drive line every 30k but spicers says 5k.

Spicer 5-1330-1X is pretty much the same as the factory U-joint with grease zerks on the cap and all.

Rock Auto carries it too but you won't see it listed under the Tacoma. You can find it if you search manually or lookup a Ford truck. I don't know why automotive application guides don't show it listed for 2nd gen Tacomas

Reddawn, Are you looking for the flange yoke or do you mean the carrier bearing and the nut that holds it down?
