    Yeah...
you guys are speaking a foreign language to me. I know what a locker is, but that's about all.
I don't off road at all and have zero desire to.

I just like the cool-lookin sticker

I don't really either anymore since there weren't enough trails around here to really get into it.

However, since so many roads around here are covered in cracks, potholes, sections ripped up for repaving or cut out for new drainage, or simply not paved I end up "off roading" just going to work or to get groceries.

So having stiffer suspension is nice for soaking up the bumps, and the skid plates will hopefully keep asphalt chunks and rocks out of the oil pan and other parts. I got 2 coats of undercoating too which I hope protects as well, and not just from rust.

    The better coast
And the front seats look tilted back much farther than a driving position.

They also look pushed all the way back.

    Who did the undercoating?

Also, is your bedliner spray from Ford or aftermarket?

I have a Rhino liner in my bed now. It was sprayed on super thick so it's held up nice. Some of the newer liners seem to be cheap and very thin, almost like you'll have to re-coat it every few years. I'm wondering how Ford's liner holds up. It looks very nice.

The dealer did the undercoating, and Ford did the liner at the factory. I'm not sure how long it will last either, and I haven't been able to compare the thickness to any other brand. It was $475, and a local LineX place wanted $250 just to do a rear bumper. I wasn't about to ask what they charge for a full 6.5ft bed at that point. I think the Ford liner is $375 on the web now. Either way, it seemed like a good deal to me, and not something I needed to deal with after I got the truck.

    I agree.
I notice you didn't get the tailgate step, any reason why?

I didn't realize those whole things existed until like 6 weeks ago.
Blows my mind. I really want one. Have no clue if I'd ever use it, but I want it.

Two things that are making me buy a Ford:
    -Tailgate step
    -Coin holder in the console.

Dead serious. If the sales guy would have just led with those, I'd have one by now.

Once you have the tailgate step, you'll never want a truck without one. So much easier on the knees.

Yes, I have the tailgate step. Another reason I ordered from the factory. One of those items not on every truck on the lot. Tailgate seems higher than my 3" lifted Tacoma, and I hated throwing my knee over that to climb in and out 50 times a day.

Kids love it, wife loves it. Her back keeps her from climbing in, but with the step she can walk right up. I never pull the grab handle out, but the step is down damn near every time I drop the gate. (Sometimes even that feels a bit high to step on.) And I think the engineering is amazing! There's a spring loaded plate with traction tape (or bedliner, something grippy anyway) that's angled just right so your toes hit it, grip, and push it flat as you step onto it. If it were just a flat plate I could see your foot slipping, and leg going through the step.

Agreed!! :D  I think I actually use the bed more now because it's easier to get in and out of.

Yeah, I mean I know it's apples to oranges, but if you want passenger and cargo room the F150 is the way to go IMO. Thanks to the shitty APR TFS gave me on the Tacoma and the better rate I got on the F150 my monthly payments are actually $10-$20 less despite the $11,000 extra amount financed for the F150 over the Tacoma.

So I really am paying less for far more truck.

Depending on what you consider apples and apples, you can get an F150 cheaper than a Taco.
It's hard to really compare the trim levels though. Sport is a trim level on the Taco, but an appearance package on the Ford.

I need to check one out but I can get an Access Cab XL Sport for well under the price of the taco. Those pictures convince me more and more to do it. I like the double cab, I road-trip 10 hours round trip at least once a month to the Family farm with usually 3-4 people, so we use it. BUT it would be nice to save some $5k and get the access cab. I get my 6.5ft bed and don't have as much to drive around. The space in the back is not that unreasonable. The friends that drive in the back on those road trips though look at me sideways every time I mention I want an access cab LOL.

You're right, you can get an F150 cheaper. You don't need to add the $1200 moon roof, max tow, mirror spot lights, etc.

An XL SCAB 4x2 6.5 box with 3.5 NA engine, tailgate step, 101A package (power mirrors, windows, locking tailgate, cruise control, essentially all of the basic convenience items if you're going to spend 10 hours at a time in it), spray-in bedliner is $32,140. Add in $885 if you want the 2.7L EB and push low 20's for MPG on a regular basis.

Does it have to be $5k more? From the Ford site, it looks like a crew cab XL is about $1,500-$2,000 more. And I bet after negotiations, you could even get it closer. And who knows, XLT with rebates might end up closer to an XL than you think. Just something to look at.

I'm 99% sure the DCLB Sport tacoma at the dealership had a tailgate step. I would definitely get that. Dang these F150s are looking nice.

I've noticed some of them have a step that comes down from the bumper on the corner I think. I think the Twins do that one too. Ford has the option for one in front of the rear wheels, but I didn't bother with that.

I'm 100% sure Toyota doesn't offer a factory tailgate step similar to the Ford tailgate step.

That's what I have been saying! :) ...plus the seats fold up and have nice flat floor for gear and whatnot if needed.

The new Super Duties are getting the same cab as the F150 too.
