Wtf? A positive post on TW? It usually feels like we are on the ford site the way people bash these trucks! I love my truck after 10 mos of driving. Just over 10k and it only gets nicer. Some rattles and clangs are settling in, mobil 1 is going in at15k. The enntune unit took me a while, but we have finally made friends. I live in the sticks, so it usually doesn't give me weather.
My best mods are a scan gauge 2, a tekonsha 3 brake controller, the tsc horse stall bed mat, a leer/century topper.
    Happy driving

Purchased mid July, 2500 miles on the clock. Can't imagine being much happier with my purchase. Here are some comments:
    • Sounds like a midsize truck. other than the emissions check/purge, which sounds like an emissions systems purge.
    • The auto lock after remote unlock is a thing I have not noticed as a problem. Does it relock or something when it should not or is it working as designed? I seem to be able to work the fob fine, but my fingers are of average size. To be fair, I did turn off the lock chime using the published method. That took me about 2 minutes.
    • My driver's seat is fine. I weigh 225, 6 feet tall, like quiet walks on the beach ... oh sorry got sidetracked.
    • My windshield wipers are working as designed.
    • The tailgate is typical of a midsize truck. If I were doing heavy loading, I would utilize an aftermarket solution intended for the purpose.
    • No rear defrost. I live in the desert, and also, is this something people actually expect to have? I can not imagine expecting this. And if I did, I would look for the feature when buying the vehicle.
    • Touchscreen is flawless. I have average size fingers and complete control of their articulation, so I have not experienced any problems. As a bonus, my base was pre wired for a back up camera, and I was delighted to find that with an OEM camera from the junkyard and 5 minutes time, I had a quality back up camera for about $150! I have the lowest level entune touchscreen though, so maybe the "better ones" are "worse".
    • Here's the big one.... since my wheels and tires are properly engineered for the vehicle, I have noticed average power from the not newly designed engine. The truck gets up and goes just fine, I love cruise control on appropriate roads. When I want a sports car, I drive a different vehicle.
    Complaint:
    • The minor and intermittent squeak/rub from the driver side front door seal (I think) near my left ear. (I am 6 feet, 225 pounds, remember) Still have not figured that one out and will address it at my 5000 mile service. I sprayed some silicone spray in the door seal weep holes but I don't think that solved it. It still seems to be intermittent. Might need another spray of silicone. Other than this one intermittent noise, which I think I can address, I am alarmed at how quiet the cabin is.

I picked mine up last week and am loving it. I replaced a 2001 Frontier crew cab that I bought new in 2000....so...it's a lot NEWER. I was surprised by the lack of rear defroster ( surprised, not disappointed ) My Frontier had one but I think it may have something to do with my Frontier having a solid rear windshield and the Taco has a slider. I just hit 1000 miles and have 0 complaints except for the lack of volume on the stereo but that fix is sitting in my living room in the form of 2x10" subs I'll be getting a DSP to clean up the signal and power the amp this week.

ANYHOW....Congrats on the new truck and welcome from a fellow n00b

My traction control switch lights up. Only one that doesn't is the inverter switch and the power mirror controls.

the button with the truck with the squiggly line? Wtf. I just fixed that part of my dash. It was separated where it joins together there. No way i'm taking that apart again.

Squeak from same place next to my left ear was my only complaint also. I brought it to dealership they re-adjusted the doors and it has stopped (for now).

I don't know if it's in my head or not, but it did seem to increase general cross wind noise (at highway speeds) coming from driver side door after they adjusted it. It may just be now that I'm not hyper-focusing on the squeak, I'm hearing the wind noise more. Either way I'll take general wind noise over an irritating squeak.

I have had my Tacoma for 6 years now and every time I park it , I still look back at it. When I am going to drive it, I get excited. Nothing has changed since the day I drove it off the dealership lot. Its a thrill to own this beauty.
