Anyone catch the segment on GMA regarding complaints from Toyota owners who report their cars accelerate on their own? There are reports in the hundreds. Toyota claims there is nothing wrong. There was even talk about the infamous toyota floor mats.

So why are Tacoma's (one of the models under recall) having a problem and FJ Cruiser and 4Runners are not? Same engine and electronics.

thats all bullshit. fucking idiots cant drive. keep your foot off the gas and move your damn floor mats back.

one persons gas pedal got stuck under the floor mat. many people are trying to do a reenactment of that. Trying to get money from toyota. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

This is the automotive equivalent of suing McDonald's for hot coffee. It has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Sad that a whole family was killed because no one in the car had the brains to know what to do when your gas pedal gets stuck. THROW THE STUPID THING IN NEUTRAL FOR GOD'S SAKE!

I sure hope those "fucking idiots" that you're referring to are not those that claim sudden acceleration. I've had it happen to me. I didn't really think much of it, because I simply threw it in neutral and killed the engine.

Tell us more...If you're really had this happen you need to shed light on the situation since it's not something we've experienced.

Tacomas do surge at a light but they don't take off.

    My fj did it.
    My 09 Tacoma did it.
    My 08 Tacoma did it.
    My wives Sequoia does it.

    I don't think it's a safety issue.

What do you mean by "surge"?

when the ac compressor or when you have the defrost they surge every now and then. it will NOT happen in a manual transmision unless you dont have the clutch pushed in for some stupid reason at a stop.

If it's what happens to me it is more of a lurch as if the transmission changes gears and you simply have to apply more brake pressure. No biggie and not the "unintended acceleration" they are talking about.

When your vehicle is in drive and you have your foot on the break the vehicle naturally wants to go forward. The surge I feel is as if the motor increased 100 rpm. I think it's some accessory putting load on the motor and the rpms kick up to compensate.
