Not at all, I have posted many times about some great improvements and love all the features on the off road package now. I just feel a bit let down after 10 years with the power plant they gave us and the front end design, not very cohesive, not to mention the inflated new price. But features like the much needed bed light, interior is quiet now, dampened tailgate, etc. all great improvements over 2nd gen.

I tested the 2016 and was sorely disappointed. Felt like my old Geo Metro from a dead stop.

I think most trucks look better with at least a small lift. I think Toytec's Tacoma looks amazing, same with the other ones in the "Lifted '16 Taco" thread. Much better than stock.

I personally think the GM Twins look terrible. The Colorado looks like a crossover truck, and the rear end looks so boxy and bland. The Canyon looks like a Sierra only 4/5 of the size, I wish it had it's own style

The VW diesel issue is misunderstood; urea exhaust treatment is effective, and used in millions of vehicles all over the world (going all the way up to big rigs). Cummins isn't cheating on anything, for instance.

VW claimed to have discovered an emissions system that met the regs and didn't require urea, which all their competitors said was impossible. Turns out they were right. The twins have urea treatment, just like every other diesel vehicle currently sold in the U.S.

Lost in this whole "Dieselgate" thing is that modern diesels (cheating or not) have vastly less particulate emissions than DI gas engines, because they all have particulate filters. It was NOx emissions that got VW in trouble, but particulates are arguably the most harmful to human health. I don't know of any DI gas vehicles with a particulate filter.

Honestly, it's probably your Home Alone thing making it hard to focus on your comments. I don't own a '16 and not sure I will (leaning toward a Runner), but if I was a guy that just dropped 35-40k on a truck I would find your little animation down right offensive.

How do the sales of the Tacoma benefit anyone here? They benefit the executives, not us. If anything, as Toyota fans we want the GM twins to be viable competitors so that Toyota can step their game up and offer a power seat in a 40k vehicle.

I concur. Did not feel like it had a lot of low end power just driving it around, but it does liven up once you step on it

That is why I am eagerly hoping that the new Jeep truck, new Ranger, new Duramax, and new Ridgeline offer up more stuff so Tacomas will lose sales and Toyota will have to actually compete again. They have already lost 5% markeshare, but their sales overall are still increasing.

If you own stock in Toyota maybe. Not sure anyone said they did benefit anyone here.

I will never understand the power seat thing. I hate how slow they are to adjust and honestly, how often do you adjust your seat? Unless you're constantly sharing your truck with other people you'd pretty much leave it in one spot and forget it.

I have power seats in my 4Runner and miss the manual seats I had in my old one. Especially when I lend my truck out and have to readjust the seating position. It takes like 3x as long than with a manual adjusting seat

The crappy part is CAFE regs are forcing Toyota to wussify the Tacoma.

If I didnt ride Id be in a 4R. People need to not be offended by everything and think that they and their decisions are unflawable or the best, I see it with the new airman at work, part of the world we live in now I guess. If you drop 40k on a truck you shouldnt be offended nor give a damn what others think or some silly meme. I can afford a diesel silverado, my roommate gives me shit cause he has one and I have "a girl truck", I could give one flying f**k, some people in the 3rd gen section need to be the same way.

The GM twins will be fine. Like Toyota, they added extra shifts because of demand. Even with the extra capacity the GM twins will produce less per month than Toyota. It will be interesting to see how the diesel is rolled out with them. Everytime you see one of the twins, you should thank them. Your Tacoma is better because of their competition.

Why did Toyota have to castrate the Tacoma when their CAFE score is well ahead of most automakers because of their fuel efficient passenger cars and hybrids? Meanwhile the Tundra lumbers on with it's awful MPG but powerful 5.7.

When I bought my Taco last year, for $1k more could have had a TRD off road CrewMax Tundra, then realized 12 mpg was not my thing.

I have a love/hate thing going on with the 2016 Tacoma. Mad they turned the Tacoma into a gutless wonder, but the styling has grown on me and I still lust over it. It's rather weird.

Serious question, I see you said if you didn't ride you'd be in 4R. I'm leaning toward the 4R but part of me still wants a bed. What makes you say that? Maybe it will help me make a final decision already. haha
