Towing capacity is pretty much decided by the manufacturer. Toyota knew they had to give it more "capacity" because it is "new". Most 2016 drivers say their old gen 2 4.0 V6 towed better because of its longer stroke, larger displacement.
I am still not counting out a Tacoma my next truck. Just trying to decide whether or not it will even be able to do what I need it to do.

    Head unit. That's it.

The Toyota Sienna is nice. Or maybe a Camry with a roof rack?

Or, you could get the 2016 Tacoma....same thing....

For the Colorado fans, if you get Z71 or GMC All Terrain, you cannot get the new safety systems on those trucks. Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.

Alright, the 2016 redeemed itself. Finally drove an offroad. Suspension is WAY better. No body roll. Not bouncy. Smooth. Difference is the Offroad has bilsteins and the Sport has Hitachi (?) shocks that are "sport tuned".

Omg it was so much better. Sunroof <3. I have a love/hate with the technology. I thought the digital tiltometer was sweet. I also love the startup video and how there's mountains and cracked mud in the background. I like it.

I think you can change the startup video and the background. I thought I saw a setting for that the other day while messing with the settings. Now just need some talented artists to make a 4x4 video and background.

A dealer in the Seattle area sent me these pics of a Limited they just got in today. I'd get it in Magnetic Gray though.

The negative press around the 2.0 L TDI's is going to kill GM's sales for a while. No way government orders start rolling in for trucks that are only available in the SLE trims. At my place of work it's tough enough to put through fleet orders on SLT/SLE/XLT trucks and in the government services they won't be ordering that trim level due to cost.

BTW in that review the only two things I saw that the Diesel showed well in was towing and mpg. Sorry to say it but for the extra cost you're still better off in a 12,000 lbs towing F150 if that's what you need. The fuel costs are negligible after the MSRP markup unless you can make your own, which has it's own risks and drawbacks, or Diesel stays cheap in your area.

Wasn't this thread about the 2016 Tacoma? I still can't wait for the Diesel Collie and Titan to come out so some people can get off of this site and stroke off over those trucks somewhere else.

That diesel GM midsize is pretty cool but ONLY because of the engine. I loathe everything else about it besides maybe the rear bumper bed steps. Exterior and interior look hideous and its not like I have some bias against GM.. I actually think the 2500HD is the best looking truck on the market right now (exterior wise, interior is still weak imo). 17 SuperDuty might change that but we'll see.

I really thought the 3rd gen taco would be my next truck but I'll admit Toyota could have done better.. the little things add up. Best case scenario Taco sales plummet and Toyota steps it up a notch. Of course we all know that won't happen

I agree, the only reason I would consider a colorado is because of the diesel engine. I drove one and it just felt like an SUV. I hate SUVs, that is why I am buying a truck. Didn't like the "boat" feel of the silverado I drove and loved the 2nd gen off road I drove vs the 2 gen sport. Wanted to wait for the third gen to see if I would like it better.
