They are still made/assembled in Japan, my buddies 14 seems so much more solid than my tacoma, love the way they look, etc. I told the GF someday she will be driving one though she wants a highlander.

Where is the link? Is that the head where it either gets expensive plasti dip or they take the grill out for mesh? (Like MANY 1st and 2nd Gen owners do already? )

Ya I think its expensive plasti derp done by 4wheelparts. I saw some photoshop of a satoshi mod but the grille seems to big to make that work. Im sure a nice lightbar design will work.

    No it's all new

But seriously they changed it a good bit. It qualifies as a new generation, there aren't too many people arguing that. They had a great truck in the 2nd gen (I don't think anyone is denying that either) so they kind of kept to their roots as far as styling.

If they new truck didn't look at least similar to the 2nd gen, who's knows how many people would like it? What if they completely changed the design and it was a flop? Play it safe and profit... again, that's Toyota's philosophy

I forgot about the assembled in Japan thing. Speaking of looks, a lot of people went off about the new '14 "predator" looking front-end of the Runner, I like it. Totally agree about the "solid" thing.....when you drive a Runner if feels like you can drive straight through a tornado. That's what got me... after driving a bunch of different trucks, the Runner just felt better.... "solid" is the word.

I love the new 4Runner. If I didn't need the 5 foot bed of the Taco more then a trunk, I would be purchasing a 4Runner Trail. I personally like the predator looks much better than the first look of the 5th gen. It looks MEAN. If you go find a thread on t4r.org when that style first came out people were reacting much the same way as they are on here with the 3rd gen...

If you only adjust it once and leave it, then why does it bother you that it takes a while to adjust? Most power seats have memory these days, so you can easily adjust it right back to how you had it, simply by holding down one button. And power seats give you a much finer adjustability than manual seats. Often with manual seats I find that one notch is a little too close and the next notch is just a little too far. I never have that problem with power seats.

Tacoma sold 17,000 trucks in July a month or so before the 16 was to be released! THAT is 7000 more than June...Dealers are not having any trouble selling Gen 2s and many of the better ones are nevrtheless discounting 16s to invoice or a few hundred above..VIVA LA Tacoma...Viva the dealers selling at good discounts like this one

GM sells more trucks overall than anyone though. Even Ford.

I guess I never had the problem you had. When my friends or parents borrow my car it's a pain to adjust everything back to how I had it. I just get annoyed with them

September overall sales. Toyota Tacoma has lost market share, but still selling more units YTD than 2014. Mid size market is booming and is why Ford is wanting to get back in. Add up all the GM trucks and compare to Ford's F-series. Ford is missing out by letting the Ranger die.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Huh ? How is 2015 Truck sales any indication of wimpy 2016. There is really not much of 2016 out there, and first trucks did not show up earlier then a week ago. So those sales are pretty much 2015's In fact dealer near me haven't sold a single 2016 because nobody had preordered one.
If anything this is a proof that Toyota should have beef up 2gen truck instead of going with wimp mobile here. :D
10 year 2gen sales, wimp mobile not so much.

there's a great deal of truth to what you say... toyota threw very little resources at the redesign, and those responsible for it were frustrated by that because there was a lot more they wanted to do...

The new Tacoma is a Highlander with a bed on the back. I guess that is all some people want their Tacomas for though.

The only reason Toyota sold more Tacomas was the fact that buyers were scarfing up all the 2015 models before they sold out, and left with the ugly expensive 2016 model.
