I have test driven 4 now and honestly, I have a concern about low end torque interfering with fun\towing factor. I am Tundra V8 spoiled though.

Wow, based on the pic, I would say closer to 600# TW, or even less. With no Weight Distribution hitch, 800# TW would make the truck squat much more.

OP does the premium and tech package add the homelink mirror or is it still the standard auto dim? Didn't see any pics and I know you have the moonroof. Little details seem to be popping everywhere with these, like the heated mirrors button that isn't even listed in the manual...

Installed my first dimple then removed it.
Home link is only on the limited. Or you can buy the mirror separately.

Heated mirror button? Is that what that button is? Been meaning to look it up, but keep on forgetting.

Seems like they should add that homelink mirror to the TRD models if they are going to add the auto dim and compass feature. I'm sure it doesn't cost much to add the garage features. Seems a bit foolish.

Yea I test drove one today while I anxiously await mine to be built. Found the random defrost button and turned it on while I looked through the manual for it. You can see it in the drawings but it isn't labeled from what I found. Touched the mirror and it was definitely way warmer so trial and error worked. Also the bed light only seems to come on the double cabs

Congrats on the new ride. I'm a little surprised to hear the avg fuel mileage considering this engine replaced the 4.0L because its supposed to be more efficient. I have a 2014 SR5 double cab 4x4 and I avg 23-24 mpg bone stock and 19-20 mpg pulling my lawn care trailer and equip which weighs about 2K lbs. So with that being said, I'm a little bummed out they did away with the 4.0L which in my experience seems to be more fuel efficient. Wish you the best of luck with the new Taco, and keep us posted on any new findings, thoughts, opinions, etc.

I reset the average MPG today and drove about 30 miles mostly freeway. Mileage is now around 19. I hope it will get better but it's not a huge deal to me. I didn't expect good milage from this truck.
I have yet to do a trip that is on mostly flat ground and more than 80 miles.

I think they replaced it for reasons other then power. The 3.5 is smoother and more quiet .....more carlike if you will.
Heck, I am bummed because they didn't just use the 4 Runner motor and add direct injection.

I have a 2014 DC 4x4 TRD Sport and the best I have ever gotten was around 21 mpg. I've driven tailgate down, tailgate up, A/c off windows up, etc to see if I could get better gas mileage, but it never seems to get more than 20-21. Didn't really change at all adding the TRD exhaust and the volant ram air intake with scoop, just seemed a bit more responsive and louder under full throttle. Hoping I can somehow squeeze a few more MPG out of the new one on the highway with the 6 speed auto and aero upgrades. Guess we will see soon. Already cant wait to upgrade the exhaust and intake.

My first thoughts on the 2016- It shifts way way smoother, at least in the test driving I did. Driving normal it seems to behave like the old 4.0, sluggish until you push the throttle harder, not as responsive until you add some intake/exhaust upgrades. However switching it into ECT mode there was a noticeable difference, more power on demand, more responsive, drove like a completely different motor IMO. Both at low speeds around town and on the highway. Sure you sacrifice MPG, but with the new display system I for one will definitely be doing my part to see what kind of efficiency I can get on long drives. But with gas prices below $2/gallon in this region most places, im not as picky about maximizing my MPGs these days

Atkinson cycle is direct injection, it just isn't purely direct injection. It switches back and forth between direct and port.
