Me too. I just need it for deer, pheasants, guns, snowboards, and fishing gear. 5 feet of bed space is perfect for me

As I mentioned, I do a lot of complaining about the 2016 but it does have some positive things going for it. I won't write it off completely until I test the manual. I do think it should be able to pull my camper better than my 2002...even if that means flooring the accelerator to get it moving. =)

I am getting one regardless. Can't be any worse than my 4 banger Tacoma. I need the additional room too. Toyota trucks are super solid; they are very conservative about change and in some respects thats why they remain reliable. I think my 05 Tacoma can go an additional 100k, but its getting tired.

Thing nice about power seats is infinitely adjustable instead of settling for in between the notches. However annual adjustment is much quicker and makes moving the seat to vacuum much easier.

Have you tried loading a quad or dirt bike?

An argument against that ^ comment is why not just get a full size at that point ?? Right?

Wrong. How often do those people who own a dirt bike or quad actually go riding? In California at least, you can't ride some dirt bikes year round. There is a legal dirt bike season.

So the percentage, <5%, of people actually need a longbed during that duration of hauling. Because fukc borrowing/renting a trailer.
But that is not to justify buying a full size.

The 95% of the time driving with your guns and pheasants would also work with the Tacoma longbed.

Not sure how the New Taco is going to "Bury" the GM Twins when the twins have more HP/Torque, better fuel mileage, towing, payload, fully boxed frame, 4 wheel disc brakes, power seats, leather options, better and more quiet ride and that's just the major features.

The only things that's class leading on the Tacoma is entry/departure angles and a gopro mount...big whup!

The bottom line is Toyota did not make much of an effort on this new truck and is hoping that it is enough to keep their loyal fan boy customers.

Most of the Tacomas I've seen in Socal have short beds and are only used for daily commuting and occasional hobbies. Lifestyle trucks you might say. But then almost all trucks in SoCal are lifestyle trucks. Very few are used for everyday construction. I myself need a 6' bed. I hate having a 2x4x6 stick out the back. Even camping requires a lot of room. Sometimes I wish I had an 8' bed.

You forgot to mention reliability....oh that's in the Tacoma's corner. Everything else is available in the tacoma or so close it's negligible

One thing the twins will have is the diesel, but it's not for me. Although I would love to have one, it would be more work than practical

This whole discussion is somewhat ridiculous for this reason....

GM is building the Colorados and Canyons as fast as they can, and it is still the quickest selling truck of any size. So they are not having trouble selling them, they are having trouble building enough to meet demand.

Toyota is able to build far more Tacomas than GM is able to build the twins, so of course Toyota is winning the sales battle and will continue to win this battle for the foreseeable future. Only if GM increases their capacity, which will most likely take years, or other new players enter the midsize market, will we see real results and be able to judge which pickup consumers prefer.

They knew us fanboys would buy it anyways, so its not a deal breaker. I am disappointed in that too. However, I do favor reliability. So, I don't mind manual seat adjustment, no LED tail light, and non standard keyless ignition.

I've only had 1 broken colorado in the shop since they came out. I went Toyota for my own truck for looks and resale value.

i test drove one the other day. Wasn't a fan of the front or back ends. But the truck overall felt great on the road. The interior was very well done. I cant wait until they are everywhere on the roads.

TBH I don't give a sh*t about disc brakes, my current drums have been more than fine. My thing with power seats as well is I am the only driver of my truck and the seat does not move so I would rather not carry that hardware around. LED's can be fixed and I was going to say something about liking keyless but I have had to push start my truck more than once and tend to like keyed ignitions more.

I actually like keyless more, but I need reliability. Bulbs at Wally are about $3.50 2/pk. The easiest fix for me is spending less time fixing it haha
