Sounds more fun than my parents post-Hugo experience. They were stranded on St Croix for about a month and only had power at the restaurant my dad managed and had to have armed guards around the clock to not get robbed.

It's probably the craziest story anyone's ever heard. My uncles snuck onto a red cross plane to get down there with no knowledge of the island and it took them about a week to find my parents. When they did somehow they bribed a pilot to fly them off the island, then the plane had mechanical failures and they almost crash landed onto a different island but luckily the pilot saved it and was able to fix the plane. There's a lot more in there about having guns to their faces many times and stuff but that's the main part.

 

The thing is the whole story requires both my parents, both my uncles, and my grandad to be told correctly and in full. Also takes a few hours to tell
