Yup, that sounds about right. My 5psi vs stock is already a night and day difference. It's so good that I haven't had enough desire to hook up my extra injectors and turn up the boost. I would be more than happy at 8-10 psi with a solid tune and 300~ ponies at the wheels. You won't get anything to last long term above 12 psi.

Just temporary took it off for emission testing. Plus the motor needs a little love if I want to tune it more aggressively.

Yeah it's socal. It's pretty rough. They do a full visual under the hood. If it is aftermarket you need a carb #. The ecu needs to have all codes checked in and they stick a stiffer up the tail pipe. I guess they maybe got rid of the dyno run this year. I'll find out.

No way lol. Even if you build up the engine with forged internals, the tranny, driveshaft, axles, and all the seals go out quick pushing 400+ HP. Much more than 300 WHP in these trucks is total overkill for a light truck. 8 is the magic number IMO (psi)

Social? That's straight up nazi style... but it is Cali after all.
I wonder if you could sneak a rear mount turbo through a Cali test... You could probably just temporarily unhook the intake and put the stock duct and filter back on to make it look stock under the hood.

You don't want to chance that. You can get flagged to go to a state referee. That is an even stricter inspection. So if you can rip everything off that is what you need to do. I had to put a good amount of thought into my kit to make it all plug and play quickly.

Is anybody here running a water cooled setup? Or is it all oil cooled turbos?

Mine too. Not necessary but takes off heat soak, no turbo timer.

You really need to pick our minds if you really want to do this.
