That diesel will likely be more reliable than the gas engines. Just hope you tow a lot with it. With diesel prices the way the are along with the upcharge for diesel, it will take years for you to get your investment back.

The dash on the Colorado looks cheap. Especially gauge cluster. Looks like hard brittle plastic.

What makes you say it will be more reliable? Sure, simple diesels are more reliable but you have to consider how complex modern diesels are.

I hardly ever hear about anyone having issues with diesels. But that's just me.

The VW shows why Diesel isnt the magical solution the public views it to be. Hence Toyota is SMART and not lazy as you say. The true colors of Diesel have become apparent, and good on Toyota for not jumping on the "Diesel is better" bandwagon.

Go ask the Ford diesel truck owners, or ask the current VW owners how they like their diesel engines now.

Neither of those have anything to do with GM.

I currently have a 2012 X5 Diesel... no questions about it... modern Diesels have more complexity to better clean the exhause gases... I have not had a singe issue with it... the few recalls, that I have had to take it in for, had nothing to do with the engine or exhaust system...

I like the ability to have some off-road capabilities, but in my case, the main use will be for towing and having the traction at the ramp. And to be able to go into any place without worries or less likelyhood of getting stuck.

And just the icing of the cake... got a call a few minutes ago from the Toyota dealer I was working with saying that they found the Inferno Tacoma with what I wanted, arghhhhhhhhh

You go and do that buddy..Have fun in your sweet Ranger that drops 1/2 it's value just by your signature on the paperwork. That's not even driving it off the lot yet. You may want to make friends in Fords service dept, you're going to need it.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Just checking to see if the GM twins have been buried yet.

Colorado/Canyon Duramax looks nice. V8 torque in a mid size package. 30+ mpg, 20 mpg towing 4,000 lb trailer. I am a Toyota guy but at least GM listened to what the people wanted. Toyota gave us a buzzy Camry motor that has to be floored to merge onto the highway.

    I prefer the 4R V6, but....

The 3rd gen towing capacity is the same as 2nd gen, off-road capability seems to have increase, the over truck size is larger, and overall weight is lower. So it's fair to say that the new truck does more on a smaller, more efficient engine. Which, I guess, is exactly what the Toyota engineers wanted to do. Seems silly to call the new truck "wimpy" (like many are) when comparing it to a 2nd gen. What can the 2nd gen do that the 3rd gen can't, besides a tiny bit more push off the line, which the 3rd gen makes up for with more HP a few seconds later.
