Most 18-25 yr olds are too busy rolling coal in some beat up HD. The only people I see driving midsize trucks are older guys.

I will be buying a Tacoma on finance so I can build credit to buy a house. My wife has good credit with history and I just have a high credit score. When we buy a house, we will get a lower interest rate if I have credit history from the Tacoma. Paying some interest on the tacoma will cost much less than the interest we save on the 4-500k house loan

Precisely my point. Unless mom and dad buy it for them, members here who are getting TRDs and limiteds are in the 30+ range

That is why I bought a used 2002 Tacoma in 2008 at the age of 25. Oddly enough, it still treats me well to this day. =)

Yeah im single, so getting a loan for a 500k house right now is not really viable for me haha. Even if I have really good credit.

Why does everyone keep calling this a $40,000 truck? I can absolutely guarantee you that Toyota will sell MANY more Tacomas for $27,000 than it will sell for $40,000.

Most new Tacomas will be around $35k. Add in tax, fees and all that other junk, it's getting close to 40k

Again, Toyota will sell FAR more Tacomas for $27,000 than they will for $40,000.

Understood. However, the commercial was not advertising an SR5 or other lower model. You asked why I said $40 truck. Because they are advertising (marketing) $40k trucks.

Welcome to every car ad ever. No car ad has ever shown a stripped down base model.

40% of current Tacoma sales are TRD models and Toyota announced with the release of the 3rd gen that 80% of their capacity will shift to double cab models.

According to the Toyota website, a double cab SR 4x4 is $31,380.

I bet its closer to 30k. The DCSB Prerunner V6 SR5 which is most likely their best selling configuration is 31k. That is not including interest. So take even 27k after 2.9% financing over 5 years it becomes a 31k truck. Its not 40k but its also not 27k. After everything is said and done most of the truck sold AFTER interest calculated for is probably 32-37k.

Don't underestimate the ability of 18-25 year olds buying that price of a truck (Not the 40k but 31-34k). Common sense says not. But if you market something and say for example, sign and drive away if you have say above a 600 credit rating, most 18-25 year olds would jump on it.

No, I didn't ask you anything. They are advertising the whole line.

Oh dear, I have to bring out quotes. Bottom line is the guy made the argument that 21 year olds will default on a $40k truck
    Do you even debate?
What warrants that claim? Like I said chances are early 20 year olds won't be going in for the loaded packages with all the options and the top of the line trim. We can stop taking things out of context and tackle the argument that was made and now we can proceed with the discussion. I win.

I just stuck with 40k cuz it was there. This still applies for anything I would say above 30k
